How about having another blend module which funtions depending on a input gradient, the gradient would be converted to black and white, so it would work in a similar way to photoshops layer masks, so you could have a normal gradient, if that was input it would fade from one image to the other, i think this would be a great feature, theres most likely a way to do it but it would be cool to have as a standard module.

You can already do this. Just plug an image into the color input of the gradient.

Ah ok cool, its not the same as masking but do a fade image to image quite well.

I think what you're describing can be done by inputting the gradient (or whatever else you want to be the mask) into the Opacity input of the Blend component. (Then the whiter areas of the mask show the foreground more and blacker areas show the background more.)
