I'd like to see a comment component, that would let me type in some remarks for future visits to the filter editor, when I had to leave some items in an unfinished state and test something.

Good idea!

They could look like sticky notes to stand out from the rest of the components.

Already on our plan (low priority).

Meanwhile, I am pulling out sliders and typing short notes on them and
leaving them in there.

Many of the folks around here have spent a good few hours (years smile:| ) immersed in coding / algorithms / subroutines / conditional switches - and all the other bits and pieces of computer programming.

The connection between setting up filters in Filter Forge and writing code is obvious. The pieces are now spread out in a (very) nice graphic interface but underneath it is still the same thing.

We have been testing (playing with) Filter Forge for a week now and, although there are already some remarkable filters submitted, we are still basically at the "Hello world" stage.

The tendency is for filters to (quickly) become more and more complex. Quasimodo's reflective heart has +/- 30 pieces, the Tartan has around 60.

As good programmers that we all smile;) are, we would never consider writing a complex piece of code without a good sprinkling of commentaries. (would we?)

I know you and the guys (and girls) have a lot of things to do, but please do not abandon the commentaries to a "low priority".

(nice workaround moonrancher)

Rô

It was already on your plans in 2006 although low priority?

Then I wonder how is possible that 9 YEARS after is not yet available and there is no news that it will be included in FF 5.0?

Please, can you be so kind to explain it?

I have also put this thread

Comments Text Component for text in Filter editor - 9 YEARS waiting for it

Thanks

I wonder why this may be still low priority in 2015?

Is there any technical or programming problem, or other possible reason?

I would like to understand and know why it if it seems to be something simple and not related to any other component, is not done

My guess:

- (Very) limited developer resources, which are now divided between two projects (FF and "The Next Big Thing").
- Focus on features that extend FF's image-generation capabilities VS. "Quality-Of-Life" features (which Comments would fall under).

Bet it's the hyper limited resources at this point.

[edit: deleted this part because it didn't add anything.]
