I have just pored through 17 pages of wish lists, and many of them would be excellent additions to what seems like a fine product. Here are my suggestions (in no particular order):
1: PDF or other printable manual. Online documentation is a real time-waster when one has to flip back and forth from program to the web. As I am a new user, this is an especially annoying roadblock for me.
2: Make filter editor able to occupy full screen. As it is now, the workspace is very cramped.
3: Right click navigation on editor screen is somewhat awkward. Why not arrow keys?
4: Having to zoom in on microscopic control boxes also seems counterintuitive. Why not just have box enlarge to full size when mouse cursor lingers over it for half a second or so? Even better, enlarge not only the box under the mouse cursor but also those with a direct connection to that box. These could be auto arranged for clarity, and then snap back to original position when mouse is moved or clicked.
5: Looking at many of the filters that have been submitted, I see many examples of 'spaghetti' (connections passing under boxes, going forward, backward and every which way). What would be nice here would be an auto arrange or cleanup function that could be invoked from the keyboard.
FilterForge is an ambitious project, which will undoubtedly be improved over time. I hope some or all of the suggestions I made are worthy of [your] consideration
