I am brand new here and just created my first filter, so maybe there is some way to do this that isn't obvious to me yet ... I was thinking that say I create a rust filter and a steel wall filter and some other effect filter like a glow and I want to put them all together to make a combined rusty-steel-wall-that-glows-filter it seems like I'd have to hook them all up right now -correct? But if there was a way to select a filter, or a preset of that filter and render it out as some sort of self sufficient bundled custom component then I can save my custom 'rust component' and start a new filter and drag in my 'rust component' as a single object to add to my new filter without having to cut and paste a huge collection of connected components -hope that makes sense.

Yes, but it doesn't have to be a problem if constructed well and the render time doesn't ballon out - obviously the only other way is to run the pic through the 3 filters............ good luck on your first filter and your enjoyment of ff.......... Carl smile:)

burt, welcome to FF.

what you're requesting is on the wish list, bundled groups. and when i say 'on the list', i mean that the FF team has acknowledged that such a feature is intended for incorporation at some point.

and as for currently, the only way is to cut and paste the whole component tree you want, copy and then paste that whole lot into another filter. the nice thing is, if you drag a box around all the components and connections you want and hit 'copy', you can paste in another filter, new or existing, and it'll drop the whole thing, connections included, into that 2nd filter.
If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

Thanks for the response. Good to hear it is on the list. This is a pretty cool plugin. Going to play as much as possible before the demo is out and hope to get it eventually. smile:)
