By this I mean the ability to open up two filters in the editor so that I can look at the settings in one and adjust the settings in another. For instance, say I like the way flames are created in one but I want to change things in one I am creating.

Right now I have to save and back out, open the other to check some things and head back to the one I'm working on, save changes and back and forth and back an forth which is a big waste of time when I want to get things done.

Welcome to FF smile:D
You could do it the long way and take screenshots then open those and look at them while making adjustments...Or the real long way and write down the adjustments on paper... smile:)

Or the better way just take that other filter and copy the whole thing to your filter then you have everything right there..Then when you are done just simple delete the other filters componets from yours.. smile:)
Stupid things happen to computers for stupid reasons at stupid times!

I had done the copy paste deal with everything and at least twice, got myself so confused as to what was what that I had to start over. lol

Not to mention, that makes for a ton of scrolling around and zooming in and out which I find a pain in certain nether regions.

What I do is create a copy with identical pesets right next to each other in the 'my filters' column.....work on individual copy settings and visually compare the presets by clicking back and forth between filters.....then delete the original when the copy has reached a marked improvement after randomization testing.....then repeat the process for the next level of improvement to the filter.....

I think that having lockable controls to zero in on problems through randomization would make filtermaking really slick.....

I imagine my side by side would take a pretty big shift in programming to achieve so I'm not going to hold my breath. Just thought I'd mention a more esoteric idea. lol

not a bad idea at all if you have the new wider format screens or two standard screens....other than that, it would be pretty small side by side on a standard..... smile:)
