I was wondering whether it would be possible to decouple the blur radius on the blur component into Radius X and Radius Y. This way we would have a nice way to achieve directional blurs without needing a dedicated component for it.

An angle parameter would further sweeten up the component then, allowing for 'any angle directional blur' capability. smile;) smile:D

dilla, vlad probably understands what you're asking for here, but i'm a little confused. how would uncoupling the radius give you directionals? isnt blur global? how do you see this uncoupled blur applying over an image or texture? i sort of understand what might transpire there, but only vaguely. got an example of how this would work?

I think Dilla is talking abouit combining the blur and directional blur into one component.....

"Any Angle" is a good idea......I know of some noise components that could really use it as well smile;) smile:)

You might be surprised, but there is already an "any angle directional blur". The component is called "Motion Blur". It has usual radius control, angle control, and the directional coefficient which dictates the strength in the angle direction.

Yup, now that you mention it, a new component I'd not seen before seems to have miraculously materialized in my component bar. Now that's what I call customer support! smile:D

Feature request retracted! smile;)

Well, Polar (if it's a Cartesian<->Polar coordinates and backwards) is very easy to implement (a week or so, including testing, excluding user documentation), it would break seamlessness of almost any filter, so unless we get to the "non-seamless" filters in the next version (FF 2?), I don't think so smile:)
