i looked through the wiki wishlist and couldnt find this. regarding the various render maps, i'd like to be able to just turn on a given render map, like diffuse or bump and be able to view all the presets that way when i double click on them, whether they are saved to those render types or not. basically, this would be a view mode that would temporarily override the preset settings and toggle on and off for any given render type. but, it wouldnt save the presets in that render type. it's just for viewing. (you could still apply that render type to view that preset that way, if desired).

the reason for this is that i dont want to actually change the presets and what type of render map they are using, but i sometimes wish to go through the presets and view them all in one render type. to do this currently, you have to go to the menu each time you look at a new preset and change that render type on each one in order to view it in that render type. i simply want a way to say, 'view all presets in this render type when i double click on the preset, but dont save them this way.'.

Actually, there could be a drop down-menu at the top of the preview window to change between final result and the various render maps (right between 'actual pixels' and 'show border'). This would work as a global override that would work regardless of filter or preset chosen.

The current way of setting the render maps via 'Filter > Render Maps' seems a bit tedious. smile;)

yup, you wouldnt even need it as a drop down. just stick a series of buttons along the top of the main window, or add a toodbar for some of this and other things, toggleable, of course. and dockable would be nice too.

no reason we cant have both, dilla. just make a toolbars thing that can toggle on and off and stick it in the menus as well.
