Well, I've only had Filter Forge a couple of days now, submitted my first filter already (Prism Vision).
But there's a quite a few things I would wish for in the editor - I'm an experienced user of Native Instruments Reaktor (a modular audio synth & effects package) which is, I'd say, an audio cousin to FF. I love Reaktor, and I'm wrapped to find something that will do for my visual art what I can do for my music, so thanks to the dev team and community!

Anyway, my requests are as such:

Math functions - perhaps a component to write formulas? It would be great for fractals, complex transforms, geometric stuff like spirals etc. I had to do some fancy dodgy stuff with waves and tone curves to make controls for and offset work in polar space (distance & angle) - something that could have been done much easier with a formula.

Extra controls - can we have some customizable drop-down boxes for the blend modes and switches etc? Int sliders are a little ambiguous and unintuitive.

And color inputs that aren't visible as a control, and not a gradient. Just a solid color.

Is it possible to make the components more open to the types of connections they can make? It would be great to be more easily able to use a control input translated on a curve (say to remap the input hyperbolically), or at least directly connect controls to curve op inputs?

Another suggestion that could cover all of the above and many other reqs - an SDK for developing components. Naturally the devs don't have time to implement EVERYTHING - but if capable users could write extra components, then there'd be a lot more possibilities a lot quicker. Notably this might reduce portability if you have to have a certain additional component to use a filter, but could a database for those be set up too, with auto-download if a filter requires it?

an sdk for components... that would be cool and quite possibly another way to earn reward points.
If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

Unfortunately, SDK won't be available in the foreseeable future. Ask Vlad for details.
Formulas (and general "scripting") might appear in one of the future versions, Vlad already stated it (too lazy to search for it now).

It would beat the "H.....E.....double hockey sticks" out of having to do all that curve work smile;) smile:)
