Hi,
It would be nice to be notified by email when a filter goes low. To me that indicates a problem and it would allow me to pull it until I get around to fixing it. I'm not saying all low usage filters are broken but for me personally it would mean I'm moving in the wrong direction. Thanks, Ron @ronviers |

+2 ......and some form of usage rankings to indicate whether a filter is getting used more, less, or remaining average. As it stands, there is no way to see which way it is going.....and only being able to see the number of downloads really doesn't tell you anything......

That would be very nice too. It would not take long for a user to become more familiar with how to effectively use one of my filters than I am. I would be reluctant to do too much screwing around with the controls of a filter that is being used successfully - even by a few users. I know how aggravating it is to have my workflow disrupted.
True. But going low speaks volumes. @ronviers |

+1.618 These 'tendencies' could look something like this on the filter page: [*]Usage Rank: High [ *] (=Peaked) [*]... [*]... [*]Usage Rank: Average [ Up Arrow ] (=Ascending in Usage) [*]Usage Rank: Average [ - ] (=Stagnating in Usage) [*]Usage Rank: Average [ Down Arrow ] (=Descending in Usage) [*]... [*]... [*]Usage Rank: Low [_] (=Absolute Bottom, no usage at all) --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid redundant feature requests!" ;) |

That sounds good. The calculation could be based on simple trendline over an interval - say two weeks.
I prefer the word stable rather than stagnant for the legend though - I don't see a necessary problem with a stable or ascending filter. @ronviers |

you could also do the usage tracking on a visual, horizontal, single line graph. one color on the graph shows X number of uses over a period of time as a base line and another shows current use or recent use superimposed over the first color. if the recent is longer than the base, then use is increasing. if it's shorter than the base, then it's decreasing.

I was more thinking along the lines of a small icon to the right of the usage rank rating, so it doesn't take up too much page real-estate.

That's a good idea.....up arrow = gaining in usage, down arrow = decreasing in usage, and a flatline symbol = constant average usage.....to represent usage statistics without having to post them......which I don't think FF would want to do......
Actually, the more I think about it, the more I think that FF might not want to put something like that out in the open to possibly dissuade users if it has a down arrow......could end up being misleading......so maybe a system by which authors can check their filter usage stats through their login.....just like their reward stats..... I personally think something like this would be very useful in allowing authors to monitor their own filters.....and make upgrades to address declines in usage before filters get the "kiss of death" low usage ranking.....might save FF some energy on addressing authors deleteing their filters ![]() ![]() PS..... Ron, sorry for sidetracking your original question.....I'll re-post it.....

How about icons for each filter, like a little hamburger for the HU ones, and a little toilet for the low usage ones ?

Sounds interesting. This info could be displayed on the author's profile page, in addition to notifications.
