Ultimate Rewards!!! :)

I just thought of a business idea for FF.....that I think would turn the FF site into a bustling metropolis of filter authors, artists, designers, game developers, etc......bring in waves of new authors and quality filters by providing incentive rewards beyond achieving Lifetime updates......provide the means by which authors can make money off of their own filters.....increase the "visability" and "exposure" of FF by becoming a much more popular graphics hub/community on the internet.....and thereby drastically increase the sales of this program.....

SUGGESTION:

At achieving somewhere between 3x and 4x lifetime updates (15-20 reward points), FF offers a reward option to authors with a hosted internet site itegrated into the FF site, basic website creation tools, and a certain amount of server space for galleries, etc......by which authors can promote themselves, their work, filters, textures, and have the means by which to take advantage of the upcoming EULA "copyright" changes to make money off of their own filters.....just like FF wants them to do.....

Further rewards could be enhanced features on the website, increased server space, etc......

like fred's idea of the double library, this one also would impose extra work and duties on the FF crew. that normally either means extra work for existing personnel or adding additional personnel. so, where's their incentive?

Well, I thought that I started this string with a good idea....but apparently FF didn't think so..... .....so we ran amuck with it....

Yeah, that's what I was thinking.....server space and website tools are negligible.....and it would "dangle a nice carrot" to bring in authors and have continuous quality filter submissions......

Since I didn't say anything that remotely resembles something like that.....???

It would be the incentive for more people to get involved, submit more quality filters for more HUs, and continue on instead of stopping when they get the program.....and that's all I meant by it......

I submitted 55 filters total and many of them I considered quality, I ended up with 3 HUs and it took half a year. At that rate it would require me to submit another 165 filters and a year and a half of waiting time to have 12 HUs, minus one that I spent already.

There are too many obstacles for the majority of us to be able to even get enough HUs to get one upgrade, let alone 3 - 5.

All filters submitted to the library are accepted.
Almost half of the filters are now considered LU.
Anyone can download the filter and immediately save it as their own and the filter maker gets no credit at all for it's use.
The collection of the stats can be shut off by the user and I would guess than many people prefer not to have this type of intrusion.

Well many of mine I consider quality but its not what is being downloaded and used at this point in time...Or they might never be used at all..Myself I try to do different types of filters to cover all areas..Also for the added bonus of knowledge...

There are and were close to 300 downloads on the ones I was thinking of. I don't feel like working for free on filters for a library system that is set up as it is. The obstacles I mentioned make it nearly impossible for many to get any HU's. As long as every filter sumitted gets accepted and people can save the filters as their own and we get no usage stats then, it will make sure only some filters ever make HU.
