...but im sure someone will redirect me if it isnt.
I have been using FilterForge since January and have come to love it - I use it on almost every image - and as a professional photographer, thats many many images every day. I have 2 'wishes'. Being a new user, and not familiar with the process of creating my own filters (why bother - u guys are so damn good at it), these 'features' may be available - it may just be my own ignorance.... If thats the case please enlightn me - i would appreciate it immensely. I often blend filters together to give a specific efffect. It would be very useful to me if I could apply more than 1 filter to an image before exiting the FF UI. Perhaps you should add a button to the bottom righ of the UI - "Apply & Exit" and then convert the "Apply button to execute the filter but not exit the UI. I have found certain filter combinations work specifically well together and I would like to be able to batch them together - so on a particular image, call a filter batch which would apply specific filters with predefined variants in a sequence... Meantime, I gotto tell you folks that im blown away with your app. |

One fairly easy, or at least feasible for even a beginner/intermediate user (assuming you can even deal with opening the filters up and connecting the wires and whatnot), would be to combine 2 or more filters together in a chain, and make 1 filter that did everything you wanted in the order that you wanted (that would require some basic wiring, ie = wire them together in the correct order, so they produced the desired output effect, not real difficult to do in some cases, but perhaps impossible to do with textures though). Other than that, you might consider getting Photoshop (I use an old version, like way old, and FF works fine in it, and I would kind of assume even the new express/lite versions of it would be fine, although you might test the demo/trial before purchasing it) and then you can apply as many FF filters to an image as you'd like before saving (and you could also then use all of the Photoshop image enhancement and adjustments as well. Just some suggestions, and perhaps too simple or complicated, but since I don't your skill level or work flow it's tough to know, so just a couple of ideas for you.

Thank you for your response jffe - It is most helpful.
I will try to combine filters as you suggest - im sure with a little effort ill get it right. I am a prolific PS CS3 user and almost always access FF from within CS3 - Thing is that for each FF filter I have to open the UI again - It would be really neat if a user could apply multiple filters before exiting FF UI - It would certainly save (me at least) a heap of processing time. Hey - did I mention that FF rocks? Ok - well it Rocks! |

Remember that you could also run FF in standalone mode. Once you have saved a filter, load up that saved image and apply the next filter to it. Repeat as needed. ![]() (I agree that a batch functionality would be nice) --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid redundant feature requests!" ;) |

I would like to note that FF fully supports Photoshop actions recording, with editing them (via FF interface of course). While this of course won't replace the ability to apply multiple filters consecutively without leaving the UI, you can use it to automate application of multiple FF filters.
Tech note: recorded FF actions store the filter contents and control settings in such way that you can completely change or even delete the filter altogether after recording an action, but still be able to play the action back (you won't be able to edit it though). |

Thanx 4 that Onyx - I had in fact recorded quite a few of my favourite filters as PS actions. Then - guess what - the FF verion updated and none of my actions worked any longer - so im back to the UI for now.
I must say its really great to have such an active forum and I am very thankful for all your feedback. |
