I would like to see an end to this ongoing resource leak/bug problem before anymore effort is put into the Mac version. Personally, I don't know how FF can move on to the Mac version without fixing this major problem first.....
No offense to Vlad or any of the FF team who have put alot of hard work into this wonderful program.....but obviously no one can figure out the source of this problem.....and attempted fixes are just making it worse.....
I would suggest spending some $$$ on properly re-doing Windows compatability.....because when things start going wrong in FF, it negetively effects the OS and other progams that are running on it at the same time (sticky cursor, slow downs, etc.).....
I want to see V2 enhancements as much as anyone else.....but I would rather have the stability problems in V1 ironed out first..... Steve

I take it for granted that you will be along with an opposing position..... For example, if I like one of your posted sample pics, it's a given that you will tell me that it sucks and that I have picked the wrong one..... LOL..... J/K...... Steve

I don't blame Vlad for doing an end-run around MS to save truckloads of money.....but if that resource leak/bug can't be figured out, I'm just suggesting that it might be a good idea to "pay the fiddler" and get everything ironed out before moving on to the Mac version and further program enhancements...... This is probably the very thing one ought to do in order to fix the problem
Hopefully there'll be no leak under Mac, as there are no Windows resources under Mac. Moreover, the major overhaul of the code which is to take place in the v. 2.0, will probably cause the bug to disappear automatically.

StevieJ: I think I should give a bit more specific than answer than GMM did since I know the roots of the problem ... a bit better
I told it already on the forums that the leak is almost certainly (I usually know what I'm talking about when it comes to programming) is one of closed-source libraries we licensed from a 3rd party:
a) [excuse me for my language] its support plainly sucks (won't dive into details here for obvious reasons)
b) nevertheless, it's one of the best solutions of its kind on the market
c) it is Windows-specific, so Mac version won't have any trace of it
d) we're going to license another library performing the same function or even roll our own for both Windows and Mac (check "c" above)
e) but not until 2.0 or at least 1.5, since it will put a great burden not only on the dev team, but on the release engineering and support teams also, since there will be certain compatibility issues with previous versions

Hopefully sooner than later in V1.5.....thus this post.....
I use the program alot in conjuction with PS and AC.....and the "seizing" of the program is sometimes a royal pain in the arse.....having to shutdown and restart FF when I'm right in the middle of something......
I was also thinking that letting this issue go on can't be helping sales if preceded to have any stability problems.....
Other than that, I think FF is the best thing since sliced bread.....and I can't wait for the next round of goodies to be added to it.....
PS..... How is the new FF royalty-based texture pack storefronts and coinciding incentive program coming along??? ..... LOL..... Steve

Can't say anything about those "incentive programs" you mentioned, since I'm THE happy one who doesn't need to care about that stuff

There's no "I" in "Team", eh??? LOL.....
So you just work on the program while others work on the server/website???
I don't know if you want to divulge this information, but I wondering if I would be correct in assuming that the entire FF team is in Russia (Vlad, Bella, you, ZZ, GMM, etc.).....and that you have satellite offices/addresses here in the US and in Europe for payment purposes??? Steve

First time I've read this thread
But, I tried to contact FF 3 times by telephone at their Virginia office, all on weekdays and every time got an answerphone message, so if people do live in that office they musn't like phones....

Telephone? You mean that archaic means of communication dating back to 19th century?
Email is a far better way to reach us.

Actually GMM, I did get a very satisfactory response via e-mail
But that's not the point...
Why list a phone number as part of your address details on this website ?
Fun, perhaps
Sorry for the sarcasm, but I think yours was a very poor response, especially in this current economic climate, where you would think a newish company like yourselves might welcome interest/sales from any avenue - including telephone.
I also might add that I do not live in the USA, I live in England, so these were not local calls
