Had a bit of a search and couldn't find it though it seems obvious - I'd like to be able to get a final render time on the Result Component when inside the Editor on presets instead of have to save and see it in the Gui, that way you could tweak different components to adjust the speed and quickly see the result without leaving the editor. There is a lot of discussion about optimizing speed and this would help in adjusting controls to balance minimum lost trade off with different components and where you could prioritize detail, roughness settings etc that you would prefer not to loose.

Although let me throw in a wrench.. smile:)
The times would be different if one was to render a different size...One filter that I did took around 6 minutes to render...But when I rendered with the size that I needed it took over 6 hours....Big difference in times there.. smile:D smile:)

I think Carl just meant for the standard 600 X 600 size. And it's not a bad suggestion really, if nothing else it'd be a good learning tool for people looking to make more efficient filters. Ideally, at each component you could see the time, or a % could be assigned to each component, so people could see what eliminating something would save them time-wise. It's all kind of moot once ya halfway know what yer doing though, and if they read the wiki and all, they would have 1/2 an idea of what takes the most render-time right off the bat. smile:D

that would be great but at least render time on the result component and as you can get this time in the Gui it doesn't seem a big step to get this info inside the editor smile;) smile:)

Thats true to a point except when you use slow rendering component or combinations it would be great to be able to adjust the roughness, detail etc to lose the least amount of the effect you desire but optomize the speed and to have that direction control rather than - adjust - save - open - adjust - save - open - etc. Or simply thinking you'll have to lose a component that has added to your rendering time smile:)

Yes, this is a very good idea, and could probably could be put in the Filter editor and so help to know the time it takes to render. I like it.
