A "Proportional Profile Gradient" has to be #1 on the list for component fixes!!!

How about a V 1.XXXX update to adress this??? smile:devil:

I'm surprised that this wasn't resolved in the beta.....the vast majority of images are non-square.....not square..... smile:|

I didn't submit alot of filters because I didn't like that the user had to choose the longer vertical or horizontal length in using the work-around snippets.....for the same reason I won't submit a filter that the user can't touch the size control.....just don't like any "loose ends" or anything that makes the filter "tedious" to use like in randomization......

So it's settled.....FF will issue an update next week that will fix the Profile Gradient to be automatically proportional to all non-square images!!! smile:beer: LOL.....

smile:devil:

DISCLAIMER: I'm joking.....but I do hope FF addresses this issue pretty soon......much needed!!! smile;) smile:)

It must be harder to fix with tiling smile:|

Hmmmmm......I wouldn't think tiling would hinder it.....seems more to do with just being a "loose end" that they haven't come back around to addressing yet.....but hey, I could be w.....wr.....wro.....wrong..... smile;) smile:D

I always have trouble with that word..... smile;) smile:D

steve, the secret to getting that one thing you want, is to not ask for anything else smile;) so, what's it going to be, fix the resource leak or this one or something else? pick one and push that one. the rest you stick on a list and leave alone till you get the first one smile;)

Bump!!! smile:D

I can't be the only one who wants this, am I??? smile:|

In frame filters alone.....it would allow for exact sizing of the picture within the frames without any cropping to the image.....and without having to choose the longer length.....which kills the use of randomization without control locks.....

Speaking of control locks..... smile:dgrin: ..... smile:devil:

maybe what we need is a 'Vector Filter Forge" for proper scaling regardless.

Yeah, the image sizing with frames is just one of the problems from the profile gradient not being automatically proportional.....there's a whole bunch of other scenarios where it causes problems as well..... smile:|

Yes, we had to intervene to prevent this from becoming the thread where StevieJ is just talking to himself. smile;) smile:dgrin:

Coming back to the topic: I'm convinced we've made Vlad sufficiently aware of the reasons why we need this 'proportionality' in FF, and I consider the point driven to Russia successfully. smile8)

Vlad, the "Profile Gradient" could be updated with a "Proportional" option de-selected.....so that it doesn't interfere with any library filters, eh??? smile:devil:

I actually have a low-priority item in the plan that says something along the lines of "add the XY Anchor input / point addressing mode to other components", but I can't promise anything and we haven't yet spend any time looking for potential candidates.

Newer versions of components do not interfere with existing library filters due to our component versioning mechanism (which has been in FF since the very first beta), so don't worry.

By "XY Anchor Input", does that mean automatically mapping/reproportioning the XY of the profile gradient to the XY of any size external image??? .....or are you talking about adding an XY option to the profile gradient???
