Sales are very much decreased when people dont know to use the software.

Moreover trial versions pose a 30days limit on practising for a newbie.

I insist for a PLE with sole features to prevent commercial application of the PLE

1. Watermarked rendering in window as well as full render. Or full render may be blocked as well
2. Filters can be saved, but cant be uploaded nor downloaded.
3. Filters created by PLE should be in a different format so that 3rd party sharing could be avoided!
4. PLE has an advertisemet in the window so that this keep user reminded for buying original softwares.
5. HDRI import could be blocked in PLE.

A screenshot of what it may be

With these all features
1. PLE will never block sales of original softwares. Infact may increase
2. Increase awareness of the software and bring it into main stream line of leading image based softwares like Photoshop, PSP, Bryce etc.

that's all fine and well, but what the hell is a PLE?

ah, 'personal learning environment'? ok.

so, uglyboys, simply apply for an extension on your demo. you can usually get an extra 30 days and possibly even another 30 days after that. i dont guarantee that, but we have seen it occur at times.

Actually a PLE would be really cool for people not wanting to buy Filter Forge. Think about it, they could never use it for anything but submitting filters, and they would eventually get enough HU.

Personally, I never liked the idea of graphic program PLEs because watermarking the work area is too much of an interferance and distraction.....really need the workspace clear.....especially for a program like this where visualization is everything.....

On the other hand, having that as an additional option might not be a bad idea at all.....couldn't hurt and would only help..... smile:devil:

A PLE shouldnt have features to upload filters nor downloading.

ANother thing.

We run coaching center here for Multimedia.
We teach mostly freewares or via PLEs or Beta versions.

So Filter forge could be added to that list as our center runs more than 60 days in a year.

Well, I think that it's highly unlikely that FF will do a PLE.....but if they did, I think that being able to submit filters to the library would undoubtedly be a part of it, IMHO..... smile:)

If PLE wil have feature of submitting filters than most of the FF user by time will shift towards free FF winners out of reward points.
and that would be an economic loss to FF!

Hard to say.....an unlimitted time period with a learning version might pay off by authors having no pressure to learn the program.....and thus result in better quality filters being submitted for the program rewards.....might be worth it to FF towards increased sales..... smile:devil:
