Instead of waiting for the filter to do its job at full resolution, I thought it'd be better (in some terms) to create a low-res preview that can render much faster and display an approximate result. Which later can be rendered at the regular resolution.

Similar features can be found in After Effects where you can lower the preview resolution down so things go smoother. Results of sliding values around can be seen immediately.

Who knows... maybe there are other methods of rendering that may be just faster than the one there is right now....

dont we already have this? when i load a large pic into FF, unless i change the settings for 'full', i always get a lower res view of the image. and if you're talking textures, cant you just use 'new image' from the file menu to set the pic size?

Yeah well low-res as in a pixel, real-time display of things happening as you slide values around, instead of waiting for the whole preview to re-render at a quality resolution.

Definitely!!! User-defined "Preview Options" would speed things up considerably.....especially with high-res images and slow filters.... smile:devil:
