It would be really cool to be able to have various fractal generators and maybe even a coded fractal module where you can enter your own formulas

Yes, fractal components would be really cool. We'll explore this idea when we have free time. A possible problem with fractals is the seamless tiling -- I'm not familiar with the fractal math so I'm not sure if it can be customized to tile seamlessly.

Any more news on this? Is it likely it will happen at some point? As you may have already noticed i have been using FF in some of my artwork -
http://atomsplitter.deviantart.com/gallery/ Recently i have been trying out fractal programs and it would be great to have similar features in FF, if seamless tiling is the reason they might not get added im guessing you could always apply a Kaleidoscope effect as part of it or something so it works as a seamless texture ![]() |

Yes, we'd like to see fractal generators in Filter Forge, but we'll need to find a way to make them seamless (or create an infrastructure for non-seamless filters, which is a huge work). |

![]() Fractal components would go a long way to improving this program, IMHO. Using "work-around" constructions to try and emulate them is way too much work and a drag on filter speed.....and you still can't get them to look quite right no matter what you do..... Steve

i think fractals would be fairly cool, but realistically, how many folks actually use fractals that much? so, for me, this is at best a medium priority item.

I think quite a few..... ![]() ![]() In this program, they could be used as noise patterns, manipulate existing noise, create global patterns, abstract designs, all kinds of neat new things with Kaleidoscope, etc.....I think you would be amazed with what you could do with them..... ![]() Allowing user input on them (users can input math) would really open things up with them..... ![]() Steve

I use some of the freebie fractal generators......apply textures to them in FF.....then make them tileable with ImageSynth.....
