You know how when you pull out a perlin noise and the details is always set to 100? And variation is always 1? and how all components have slightly to completely annoying defaults?
What if we could right-click on components and it would say "Edit Default". From there we could either set a random checkbox to have it randomize all default controls, or make custom slider values. This doesn't seem like a very hard thing to implement, right? Save all presets to a text file, and all components have a special ID that they sort through the file with and grab the compressed information from. ![]() Roses are #FF0000
Violets are #0000FF All my base are belong to you. |

I always think about it when I connect sliders to maps. Sliders' default values change current view and I always need to change them in order to return it. I'd prefer if sliders would automatically take map's current value instead of slider's default. |

this has been mentioned in other forms before, betis, but i like your way of being able to edit the defaults ourselves. that would be very handy! If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

In fact I wish there were presets per component that can be accessed via right click. Then you can have several versions of the perlin noise with different parameters under 1 node, just 1 click away. WITHIN THAT you can probably choose a default for yourself. |

I really, really want this. I hate that almost every time I add a component I want to use certain settings that I've recently been using, but I have to go through and manually set them again.
What I'd suggest to make this easiest to implement would be that if you drop a component to the grid, you can edit its values and then right-click the component and select 'Use these values as defaults'. |

Me too! This was suggested as early as 2006.
The new V2 components in particular seem to be configured to annoy you the most instead of helping out ![]() |

How many times do you need a slightly blurred, squashed, orange ellipse? ![]() And what is the reasoning behind checkboxes for switches on/off = 5/8 ? ![]() I would even be happy with a poor mans solution like an .ini file. |
