What if we could have multiple channels through filters, where the different channels got the same process through the filter? We could "bomb" a diffuse map, a bump map and a gloss map at the same time, getting three maps out. This would be useful for things like noise distortion etc as well, so that you could easily know that the exact same operation is applied to each of the input maps.
Another way of thinking about this would be clones/references of filter settings, where changing one, changes all the references to the same values, but each reference can have different inputs/outputs. |

Hi Jon,
This is something I'd like, also. Having FF read EXR format would help in this. In the mean time there are work - around ways you can do that. One way is to split out your Bump, Spec, etc channels into the RGB channels of an image. I'll often do this with an assortment of different masks. You can even split them, by using the upper or lower range (although it's trickly). Problem is, this doesn't give you RGB. Another way is to composite multiple channels onto one single image. This is often done in games, so it's not as strange as one might think. But, you have to be handy with the offset component. ThreeDee has a nice demonstration of this: http://www.filterforge.com/forum/read...ssage63205 |

Thanks for the suggestions! Although I think being able to clone/reference a filter would be much easier

Happy to be of help.
Actually, something I really wish is that FF had a way to reference specific FF filters from the Photoshop side. That way, you could create a series of PShop actions using a series of FF effects. Or even being able to set FF to Have you ever seen KPT scatter? (It's an old one, but a good one) It allows you to specify a series of images. Actually a matrix of images. You can then tell their bombers / particles to use the images according to some order. It's pretty handy, actually.
