Is it possible to add a text node where we can manipulate text and color of it and can apply various functions like blur and randomize etc.

it would be great.

I think an extra controller wil be needed to have text editing feature in settings when it is saved

Mike, the Text component is problematic.

First, identical fonts may look differently on different machines, platforms, OS versions, driver versions, video cards etc etc. Plus there's that font substitution thing that makes the problem even worse.

Second, to make sure that downloadable filters work for every FF user (including those who don't have a particular font installed), we will have to embed the font into the filter's XML code, which can bring serious legal problems for us.

Thats the quote from Vladimir and here is the thread...Second one down an a little down the page...

Regarding the font feature -- technically, fonts are a special case of vectors, and in order to implement fonts we'll have to implement vectors first. Which means loading them from PSDs (via the plugin interface, which probably means getting a newer SDK, which has a scary license agreement) and AIs (probably the same story with the AI SDK). Vectors would involve a new kind of components (with brand-new color!) which requires propagating the support for vectors across the entire infrastructure (renderer, GUI, preview, files, filter library, website etc etc.) That's a lot of work, so I can safely say that vectors -- and therefore fonts -- won't be included in v2.0.

Vladimir said that this won´t be included in FF 2.0, and has neither been included in 3.0 BUT would be interesting to know if there is any plan to be included in FF 4.0 ??

we will have to wait until some news appear about this, possibly when the first beta of FF 4.0 appears on september 2012.
