Get Alpha blending

i've experimented with the get alpha component several times and almost always end up abandoning it. what i want to do is run two legs, one with the top half completely transparent and the other leg have the bottom half completely transparent and then blend the two legs together with NO semi-transparency showing through in the blend.

what currently happens is that the blend component takes the transparent part of one leg and blends it with the opaque part of the other, giving a semi-transparent finish. that's fine and that's what i'd expect the blend component to do. but, there doesnt seem to be any other blend type tool that i can use to get the effect i want from the get alpha effect. mind you i said 'from the get alpha effect'. i can get a very similar effect, the one i do want by using a profile gradient on each leg and just not using the set alpha at all.

so, what i'm looking for is a blend component feature that would take the transparent part of set alpha and ignore it in the blend. in other words, i dont want the transparent part to be blended at all. i still want the normal blend when i need it but i would also like this other as either a separate component or a toggle-able feature in the blend component. it might just be a little checkbox thing like 'blend/dont blend transparencies'
