Looking at the current set of built-in preview images, it occurs to me that the selection is "too perfect" and misses some essential features for demo/example usage.
1. No HDR images 2. No gradual transparency images 3. All perfectly adjusted 4. All noiseless and high quality 5. No B/W's Users will be accustomed to the default look and feel of the preview images over time. Therefore it is important that certain features are in the images by default, so it is clear what impact a filter has. No HDR images If we are to demonstrate HDR specific processing, we have to fabricate a fake over exposure which is far from ideal. A few nice HDR images are most welcome in the sample set. No gradual transparency images Like discussed elsewhere, the current set mainly contains "binary" alpha masks, i.e. no large region alpha fading etc. This is not very useful for demonstration of neat blending filters. All perfectly adjusted If we are to demonstrate adjustment filters, we need images that needs adjustment. The current set is all too perfect. All noiseless and high quality The current images look really good. How about a few ones with natural under-lighting noise, compression noise, dust and scratches etc? This way we can demonstrate various kinds of noise reduction filters. No B/W's This one might seem simple: why not just desaturate one the existing images? The point earlier in the post is about what users are accustomed to look at. If we have general B/W image, we intuitively know that any filter that presents this image with coloring of some sort, is using a B/W source. So any other thoughts on the sample preview set? |

+1 This would better show off the improvements that can be made to almost any image, which is more important than good-looking stock images, cool as they are.

Yes, agree with Uber, all excellent points.
All I can say is that there's nothing (besides minor UI issues and perhaps introducing too much visual clutter into the Filter Library thumbnails) that prevents us from adding more previews. They can even be grouped by categories. The rule is, once added, a preview cannot be removed from FF, because there will be filters rendered with this preview in the Filter Library. In other words, I don't rule out the possibility of adding more images in the future. |

I agree also with uberzev, all excellent points, and perhaps sometime in the future this could be available in FF and would be good.
But as said very well by Vladimir Golovin
All these new added bultÃn previews suggested very well by Sphinx, must be carefully choosen and created as they will not be able to change in the future, as there will be already filters rendered with these images and can´t be modified. We will have to wait and see what happens with forthcoming FF versions |

I think that for this to be available perhaps we should wait to FF 4.0 or FF 5.0 if they decide and want to do it and think about it.
