Today I had the idea to take a photo and then apply a FF filter, and then after I rendered the result, I wished to apply another different filter over the same photo that has been filter forged, but is not possible.
The only way I know that you can apply a second and third filter to the same photo is: 1 - Load the photo 2 - Apply the filter you want 3 - Render the result 4 - Save the result 5 - Load again the result 6 - Apply the second filter 7 - Render the result 8 - Save the result 9 - Load again the new result 10 - Apply the third filter 11 - Render the result 12 - Save the final result Please, I suggest that it could be able to go from point 3 to point 6 whitout the need to save and load. I would love to be able to apply a filter and NOT need to save and load again and keep the current image result, and I want to keep that and apply another and another filter, and ONLY save after the final result. Thanks very much |

basically, you want layers, like in photoshop layers. you could then add blend modes to the main gui

Sorry, I do not want layers, is not at all my intention. I just only want that I do need to save and load back the same image that has been already rendered.
I want to apply a second filter over the same image that has been already added a first filter before and has already been rendered and finished, and the second filter would be applied in the exactly same way as has been applied the first one, not in any layer at all. What I want is this 1 - Load the photo 2 - Apply the filter you want 3 - Render the result - Here the image should be converted by FF as the base image. 4 - Apply the second filter 5 - Render the result 6 - Apply the third filter 7 - Render the result 8 - Save the final result no layers just only one image always. |

This has already have been requested several times AFAIK, but I like the idea, especially if this was combined with some sort of Macro Recorder.

Could this be done in some way inside photoshop using FF plugin and actions ????
You will need to be able to choose the filter you want after the render result, or have the ability to list, name or "program" the filters you want already in the action. |

No, it's not possible because PS does not 'talk' to FF about the filter or preset being used -- it's just the layer data being exchanged. Therefore, the 'action recording' part has to happen inside FF.

This is very interesting to know, so please, does this mean that is not possible to make and action because must happen inside FF, and not from PS ? As far as I know this is not possible in the FF plugin actual version
Sorry, I have not seen that it has been requested, it is good to know this as so I am not the only one suggesting this useful and interesting idea and feature. |

I find that breaking effects up into individual filters and running images sequentially is much faster and offers much better control than wasting time waiting for images to render under a slow consolidated effects filter... Even if FF had this ability, I would still do it this way...

YES, having a Macro recorder (like for example Photoshop has "Actions") would be very good to have and so be able to make repetitive things like this inside FF with out having to use the command line rendered. |

Why this thread is dead? ![]() This is from december 2011, so is not so old, and there has not been any answer from FF inc. and they have not done yet anything about this yet, and so do not know if this would be possible or not, and as the FF 4.0 is soon to be released I wanted to put this up again and also say that the Macro recorder is a good idea too. and perhaps will have to keep requesting this and bring it up more times, until FF Inc. answers or makes something about this. |

Just 6 years later, and it has become possible with copy-paste:

+1, this is quite useful.
When in plugin mode, in addition to the normal "Apply" button, there could be an "Apply And Continue" button, which performs "Apply" but doesn't close the image and return to the host application (PhotoShop, PaintShop Pro, etc.). Instead "Apply And Continue" just applies the filter, and leaves the Filter Forge plugin open and free to apply another filter to the same image. When in application mode, there's no "Apply" button, just a "Save Image As...", but having the "Apply And Continue" button makes sense there too. |

+1 from me too
But I'd rather sign for the layer-like concept than action-like, because of the blending modes that couls be implemented. In a next step one could even have masks. With blend modes all filters would work, not only effects. But some time agoi I did request for recursive filters which would allow the same result with more flexibility as one could apply one filter to another and then apply to the image. I will try to push that topic up again as I have extended the idea by a current project requirement. *edit" Here is the said topid (new version): Recursive filters |

We decided against the 'Apply and Continue' button in favor of extending copy-paste to the plugin mode in 9.003. Just wait for the first filter to finish rendering, then press Ctr+C/Ctrl+v to load the result as your new source image. |

Well, It has taken 8 years since I suggested it but it seems that it is finally possible, thanks So as far as I understand to use this new way should be as follow on the list below please, tell me if this is wrong or is needed to do something else. 1 - Load the photo or source image 2 - Apply the filter you want 3 - Render the result 4 - When it finished rendering, then press Ctr+C and then after Ctrl+v to load the result as your new source image 4 - Apply the second filter 5 - Render the result 6 - If wanted to apply another filter repeat point 4 or if not want to add a third filter go to point 9 7 - Apply the third filter 8 - Render the result 9 - Save the final result |
