THIS SUGGESTION IS ONLY FOR WHEN YOU CHOOSE THE RESULT COMPONENT AS "SURFACE"
The last component in any FF filter is always the Result component, and there is no problem with it. If you are using the Result component with the "Filter type --> Simple filter" you can replace the result component and continue adding components or use this to mix with others filters. BUT what happens if you want to choose in the Result component the "Filter type --> Surface" ? There is no possible way to add any other components after this one, because as far as I know there is no component available to replace the "surface" options with another similar component to be able to continue adding more components OR to mix this filters with others filters. What happens if you want to make a group of components to make a metallic effect and then use the resulting image for other effects AFTER this one ? I have had an idea and want to suggest if it would be possible to have a similar or a copy of the "RESULT" as an independent component, I mean that you could continue adding more components AFTER the result component, and put this in the MIDDLE of a filter, and be able to put MORE THAN ONE. I suggest that this copy of the result component would be added to the list of components available. What can this be used for ? MIX FILTERS Well the main point of this idea is to be able to MIX filters or snippets much easier and simplier than now, or possible to do it (as on filters that use the surface metallic is impossible to mix with other components) and would help much for creating greater filters and combine them in new different ways that is not possible or easy now. USE THE SURFACE OPTIONS NOT AS A FINAL COMPONENT Also probably the options available in the Result Surface component could probably be used also as a part of other components and link this to other components to get different possible combinations. Also you could have the option of adding a checkbox to have a shiny metallic option or a plain version of the filter (if you wanted to have both and is possible to build it in that way) |

Now that you can group components, I think that there is one component that can´t be grouped (I have not tried but do not think will work) and is the Surface Results component
I mean that a filter before a Simple result component can be CONTINUED after it and you CAN add more things AFTER it just by moving the result component. So if it would be possible to convert the Surface Result component into a grouped component WITH the same height and other inputs as now AND have a new output. BUT if you have a snippet that uses a Surface filter you CAN´T add more components after the result as you can´t disconnect the components as it happens with the simple result component, and then you have to build the filter around this and need to know how to do it. |

I don´t understand what you´re on about at all lol :S
The result component, wether simple or surface is always the last component. It´s not necessary to include it in a group at all. If you want it in a group, save it as a filter ![]() |

Sharandra, I know that perhaps I did not explain it right, OR have made it more complex than it really is
I mean to be able to convert the Surface result component in a Snippet or in a filter to a NON ending component and then you can copy this to another filter that has the result component. There is NO other component that can replace the Surface component so I suggest to be able to convert it in a group to a component with an output instead of only an ending component |

But it´s not necessary.
I think you don´t understand how surface filters work. Maybe someone can explain it to you. For your metallic example above, you create a mask for the area that should be metallic in the end and feed that into the reflection/metallic input. |
