Attached is a test of the phase option in Perlin Noise. The noise is inside the cloud group. Manually if you click frame 1 on the timeline, then frame 90 the test renders match pixel for pixel. The Perlin Noise is looped. However if you Render Animation in any format, the animation does not loop properly.

Rachel, thanks for your report.
The devs say this behavior is by design and is not related to rendering animation in a single container: if you browse through rendered frames one by one quickly enough, you'll see the same twitching behavior. It is caused by the fact that blending of the noise octaves is not uniform along the Z-axis. You can try shifting phases a bit differently. Maybe increasing roughness or adding a constant somewhere will result in less twitching. |
