On the Mac (latest version of Sonoma) the character field of the Text component in FF14 does not accept Unicode without crashing.

On the Mac you can add Unicode Hex Input as a optional keyboard (System Settings/Keyboard/Input Sources). As an example, with this keyboard you enter Option 00BC to get this (¼) in TextEdit. Some extended ASCII can only be accessed via this keyboard or the symbols palette.

The workaround is cutting the extended ASCII from TextEdit and pasting it into the character field in FF.

UPDATE: the same issue exists with the Notes component.

Please can you be so kind to explain in more detail HOW you are able to use the unicode in the Text component, because it seems that you have been able to make it work correctly as shown here

Here is some research into Unicode and special characters. Music symbols are not included in most fonts, so here is a free font that has them called Noto Music. This font does NOT work properly with Word.

International characters are supported in Arial Unicode MS. Microsoft now wants money for it... so try this.

Copy and pasting is probably the best way (only way right now) to enter special characters into Text components. Here is my favorite Unicode character table. Just rolling over the character allows you to copy the character. Then you can see if the current font face in the Text component supports it.

International characters are supported well in Arial Unicode MS. MS now wants money, so try this.

If you find a symbol you want to use in an article or web page, you can find copy and paste the character into this Unicode decoder. Paste the Unicode into the left field and click Encode. The hex Unicode value (if the character is valid) will appear like \u03d0 , for example.

Please, I am very sorry that I regrettably can not understand it, can you be so kind to give more details?

Thanks very much

Use copy and paste. On the Mac use Font Book. In Windows Character Map. For now you can’t directly enter Unicode in the Text component, which was the purpose of this bug report.

+1 for the original comment. There was a recent update to FF14, but this issue was not solved.

Maybe you could add a description step by step for the FF developer team can test it by themselves and be able to reproduce the error and see why it crashes and so they can be able to solve it if possible

Does it happen with any unicode hex input?

The best way to look at this: Filter Forge 14 does not accept Unicode input. The quick way to enter Unicode,
Windows: enter 4 digit unicode number followed by Alt X, for example enter 00bc followed by Alt X,
Mac: enter 4 digit unicode number followed by Option-Command X, for example enter 00bc followed by Option-Command X,
like this ¼.
Some apps support it, some don't,
Unicode supported: Word, WordPad, LibreOffice etc
Not supported: NotePad, TextEdit, Filter Forge 14 etc
You can copy unicode into FF14 by copy and paste as a workaround.
You can also use the Show Emoji & Symbols or FontBook on the Mac to find
Fonts for FF14. In Windows you can use the Character Map.

The secondary keyboard on the Mac (Unicode Hex Input) crashes FF14 when you try to enter unicode (Option 00bc).
