One of the problems with doing it this way is that photoshop's input gradients can be a bit not-totally smooth.

... my motto is to achieve the desired effect as simple, fast, and efficient as possible.....because I'm impatient and have a short attention span :) I've been checking out yours too :) One little itsy-bitsy suggestion for your "Metallic Emboss" filter......I would add a full range of controls to it.....to make something good even better :)

  • Hello: How do I add a snippet?
Author: crispalomino. I have been having so much fun working with the wonderful filters created by the community. I am slowly grasping some of the things to do. This is using DrEvil's beautiful Leather Emboss filter. I added image nodes as well as working with heights and working the image (which is a photoshop stained glass piece I made using real scans of stained glass) to work with the height levels set in the filter. http://www.elektralusion....

" Ooooooops.....skipped that part and went right to the filter.....sorry :)

... If the filter had an adjustable gradient, starfield/very fine glitter effect, (specks that can be tight together), adjustable flakes, and color adjust. Paint with sheen or some sort of shine. I'm searching but the paints look too thick or is only for emboss. Right now I have to try to fake it with going through multiple filters (alot) to get a close look to car paint. I swear I am on the verge to make this but I have no clue with nodes and keep getting overwhelmed lol. Will look for a tutorial. But ...

... Color Control and on the bottom I used my Multi-style Carve. I combined with a 65% layer exclusion mode. I then upped the saturation and did a multiply darken. The sky is on fire and it could be the end of the world. I like the way there is a selective emboss in the water and part of the sky. The image becomes very stark with multiple areas of interest. This is one time when the exclusion mode works perfectly to create a foreboding feeling in the work. My T-shirt shop .. Captured Image Design (http://cafepress....

... the first iteration. The gradient is already being generated so you can effectively remove it out of the loop and have no issues at all. I recommend adding some more detail work! I think it can use some highlights, shading, and a further hint of embossing, maybe some subtle texture work! Glass effect works very well, very simple to implement in FilterForge, plus you can make it work with any shape. Would make this button designer extremely powerful! Author: Gene S Morgan. Mardar ... great mask ... You are figuring out my tiki methods ... That is the whole reason I created all those embossed textures like my Carved Wood Grain ... • Acrylic Paint Texturizer by Persidio
Author: Presidio. Thank you Steve~ It's a great filter to use with other filters for font application. I was putting this filter on your fitlers last night (filter layering); also with my 'metallic emboss filter' (that's a total of 3 filters) and the effects are stunning when the drop shawdow is added. I'll have to post some examples of the type font with the three filters- however this filter works very well with many of your filters for fonts....

... Pattern to save it? " Yep. In pshop, you just open a file, from FF or otherwise, select the area of interest, and go up to Menu bar: EDIT > Define Pattern... and there you go. Now you have a pattern. ">And then use a Bevel and Emboss layer style to apply it? Or are you using the >texture filter from the Filters menu? Or both? Or others? How do they differ?" Yes, all of that. Different people have different ways of working, though. (I use a lot of layers w/ masks ...

  • GF Landscape Gen version Rocky Mountains 1.1 by Ghislaine
Author: Rachel Duim. For the time being, I'll explain what I know. The Derivative component (with ArcTangent) can provide you with a height map. It can be used for landscapes, shading, and most notably embossing. The Derivative component can also be used with the ArcTangent2 to determine the direction of "brush strokes" for the Bomber. The derivative that is computed in NOT in the proper range for use as a height map. The range you want ...

  • Something simple like PS's Bevel & Emboss?
Author: McGyver. I'm not well versed in this area of CGI to be asking questions about this in a clear enough manner, so sorry. It seems like some filters do come close to the emboss or bevel effect... would it be too difficult/impossible an effect to translate into a component? Filters that have for example, brick or tile patterns seem to be simulating this effect... Would it still be really hard if the component was meant ...

... think you also have to make sure that the height map is a flat tone/color. (And even then, I think the Surface Lighting settings may need to be adjusted "just right".) If the height map isn't flat there does still seem to be some sort of embossing effects going on (even when the 3 surface settings are at 0). (At least, from what I remember.) Plus assuming such a set-up works, if you use the filter as a "simple filter", I think it might be much slower than if it actually ...

With simple layering methods he was one of the first to demonstrate things like drop shadow and emboss. He was able to do all kinds of crazy stuff I had never seen before. He hooked me. His tips can be still found here on the web if you look. Ever once in awhile I use some of those channel chop ideas in one of my filters. My Foggy Edges filter is ...

I added a really faded back version of my Hammered Metal filter to gives some rough emboss to the back. I really like Ronviers' Cracks Stencil filter. It is an easy way to give a surface an ancient worn look. I did about 3 repeats of that filter to add some really interesting aging to the image. I finished it off with Kraelin's Frosty ...

... I think it is a relic of some very old ice age indian tribe ... April fool ... Oh man what kind of juvenile am I? I used my Color Corrode filter to age this guy. (It is another filter I designed just for that purpose) Then I applied my Color Texture Emboss to create a rougher surface. My Alien Ice Storm was used for the background and Kraellin's Frosty Morning Window 1 was used for the frame. I did all that to hide the fact that this sculpture was kinda raw ......
