  • Exr Files
Author: onyXMaster. Well, it was more a term-oriented decision, since JPEG's are not HDRIs, so importing them as HDRIs sounds wrong. Maybe HDRI Import should be renamed to Lighting Environment import or whatever. If it is renamed, I think accepting JPEG's, BMP's and other LDR images may be fine.

  • Environment Imput for Filter Type: Surface
Author: onyXMaster. The only way to use your own environment is to import it using Tools -> HDRI import. It's a lengthy process (taking tens of minutes for medium-sized images), requires a specially prepared input image (HDRI in latitude/longitude format) and produces a large output (around 2 MB ...

  • how about launching a PLE
Author: Kraellin. ah, 'personal learning environment'? ok. so, uglyboys, simply apply for an extension on your demo. you can usually get an extra 30 days and possibly even another 30 days after that. i dont guarantee that, but we have seen it occur at times.

  • Foxxee's Pearls And Beads by Foxxee
Author: Kraellin. foxxee, it's not really a good or a bad. the hdri lighting environments are those spheres you see under the 'Lighting' tab when you have a 'surface' type filter open. you can make your own and these spheres in your filter looked like they might work for such.

  • Author's Development Forum
... invited by other authors or by FF, were invited. in other words, a private authors forum. the point of this would be to allow authors to discuss filter making and filter ideas and all that is inherent to that process in a more or less secure, unseen environment. it would also be a place where FF, if it desired, could work more closely with authors. it might even double as a beta test environment, when that was needed. most of the folks currently frequenting the forums, i feel perfectly secure ...

  • Spherical Madness!
Author: Kraellin. ok, i looked up vray and based on what i could see there at their site, i couldnt really tell what their software is for. is it primarily a lighting/environment thing? you've mentioned before using vray and 3ds max. so, do you use max for the building of things and vray for the lighting?

  • FF Crashed
Author: onyXMaster. The error " Specular exponent 0.XXXXXXXX is too small (less than 1) for environment XXXXXXXX." is already fixed (the fix will appear in the next release). We're more interested in the origins of "Access violation at address 00466931 (read at address 3F462C93)". Could you please provide more data on that ...

  • Animal Lovers Unit, stop The Nonnative Wildlife Invasion Prevention Act
... I would say that 98 percent od the list is either raised as food animals and the rest is pets. The pig or hog as we know it is not truly domesticated, compared to the cow. The pig or hog reverts back to it wild state when they no loner in a control environment. Feral swine there fore can become damaging to the environment. and a danger to human since they do become very aggressive.

  • JPG to EXR library
Author: onyXMaster. Take note that "rules" I mentioned in my previous posting are of purely technical origin and do not attempt to justify the aesthetical quality and applicability aspects of a certain lighting environment; I'll leave these to people that are more artistic than a geek like me (yes, I'm talking about you, people) ;)

  • Light bloom by VorteX
Author: Torley. I like a nice bloom gonna try this out on some Second Life imagery to see what it does. (We're working to get natural bloom into the environment so we don't have to post-process it, but in the meantime, I love to creatively visualize what the future might be like.)

  • Better User Interface
... refreshing feature to be turned on or off and refreshed manually by clicking a button all of which is visible in the main page of FF. Topaz Labs has recently implemented this in some of their products and it definitely saves time and makes for a happier work environment.

  • Lighting module question
Author: CopperScaleDragon. Is there any way to change or add the environment images used in the lighting module on some filters? Since some of the effects are reflective I would like more control over what is being reflected. I have looked around for info on this but was not able to find mention of it in the help ...

  • Why FF inc. publish an unusable beta3 on friday and blocks beta2 ?
Author: GMM. "SpaceRay wrote: with unfinished projects for a WHOLE weeekend" I wonder why anyone would use any beta software in a production environment. Guys, this is a beta! It's meant for a specific circle of users who enjoy finding bugs in software, not complaining of them! You've got a stable commercial version of Filter Forge 2.0 for important jobs.

  • Carl's Corner :)
Author: ahimsa. No, the background is taking forever to render and the way the DAZ environment set is made it looks like crap. I'm working on it right now though. Hope to have it done in a few days. Want it just right. Then I need to stick him in a gumball machine, but I need him to pose for me again. :D

  • Brushed Stainless Steel by ronviers
... thread in the general discussion forum for creating a library of .jpg's to use as .exr's. post whatever images you've used that follow the criteria laid out there into that thread and perhaps we can get a nice library going of good jpg's for lighting environments! :)

  • Rock Wall 1 by Kraellin
Author: Kraellin. ahimsa, yes, i made those extra lighting environments you see in that screenshot. just stuff i've imported on my own. i make a new one every so often. so, no, it doesnt have anything to do with a lifetime version or anything like that. anyone can make their own.

  • Basic lights for 3d objects
Author: Crapadilla. "StevieJ wrote: [...] A way around those undesirable reflection side effects..... Smile" How about this one: set Reflectivity to zero! ;) :D All kidding aside, maybe FF should provide a few hdri environments that are based on simple studio lighting (like these (http://www.doschdesign.de/produkte/hdri/Chrome_Studio_Effects_V2.html)).

  • HDRI Upload/download Library?
Author: Crapadilla. "ssamm wrote: Maybe the FF library should only accept filters that use presets that use only those 7 default environments, though..." Way it is already. "infiniview wrote: [...] I see people posting filter files right here in the forums. How is that done?" You can attach a file to your post.

  • Procedural experiments
Author: Indigo Ray. Emme, thank you for breaking down the rainstreet into steps. Looks like a custom environment for the reflections? I love how you went as far as to add the ripples in the water! The Reflective series is fantastic. I still have no idea how you did the lens blur even though you sort of explained it.
