  • Can You Remove Lighting?
Author: ssamm. I did try it just briefly. If you open a filter that has a preset lighting to a missing file, FF just assigns it one that is in the folder (with a message stating this). FF seems to work fine with just one lighting environment in the folder as far as I can tell. Then I put the files back and after restarting FF, everything seemed fine like before.

  • allow FFENV files in forums
Author: SpaceRay. Sorry to ask but I do not know what a FFENV file is Is it FF Environment ? Even then I do not know what kind of file this can be Perhaps thinking of the forum size limitations, you could put them inside another external server and put the links in the forum, so this way you can share as many of FFENV (whatever ...

  • Sci-Fi-Deco (preview)
Author: capnsparrow. "StevieJ wrote: maybe too "busy" to be used as effective backgrounds" Agreed. I pictured these more as being used for panels on a door, or some other accent within a 3D environment. ;) "Foxxee wrote: "Metropolis"" I know the movie well... and this was exactly what I was hoping for! You just made my day! :D "ahimsa wrote: I like the look of the last one best." I actually ...

  • Mineral Discoveries by DreamWarrior
... "ahimsa wrote: I love Bryce. It was the first 3D program I ever used " Same here :) I'm going to have to put it back in too, haven't used mine for almost a year now. And we need to show what a lot of these textures will look like in a 3D environment besides just flat samples the way I make them :-P Yes, nice and damp... (brrr) I feel a draft down here ;)

  • JPG to EXR library
... recall if i tried to do this before, so, there may be an old thread out there with something similar to this. what i'd like to do here is start a collection of .jpg's that folks have actually used to make .exr's which they then imported into the lighting environment. the reason for this is that it's not very practical for FF to allow custom lighting environments (LE) to be uploaded into the library. the biggest barrier to that is copyrights. someone slips in a copyrighted image made into an LE and ...

  • Using Lua Profiler - is it possible?
... nothing prevents you from implementing a standalone Lua program with some code calling the prepare() and get_sample() functions, say, while traversing pixels of a bitmap. This setup lets you profile scripts outside of FF. To better emulate FF execution environment, make sure you're executing Lua with debug hooks turned on, and without LuaJIT.

... mirrors at the end of each hall. They were half spheres. Do you think it would be possible to use something like this (http://cgi.ebay.com/Full-Dome-Convex-Security-Mirror-26-SEEPV26360_W0QQitemZ160283876917QQcmdZViewItem) to make images for lighting environments? Here is a better picture of one.

  • SpiralGraphics announces Genetica 3.0!
... There are eight types of 3D effects, working with height maps, which have shadows, Ambient Occlusion, caustics, refraction, point lights, and couple of nodes that I don't understand much yet called Transmit and stereogram. This is in addition to environment lab.

  • Soap Bubble teaser
... differently depending on the incident angle... so... to fake it you would apply a gradient color radially from the center of the sphere, assuming you have a sphere already... Then map a second spherized channel with a generated texture to simulate the environment. " Excellent tip :)

  • Simple Batch Rendering
Author: Igor Lorents. Actually, we do have an internal command-line render utility. Not sure our QA dept has ever seen it :D but it works pretty well while it is in the debug environment :D Anyway, it doesn't have any interface to provide ranges for controls' values, nor rules to control interpolation within that range. And I'm not sure it will ever have features like that. And of course no key-frames.

  • Getting good reflections on glass...
Author: CorvusCroax. Hi Mongoose king. 1) Look at some actual pictures of what you're trying to make. 2) Use a reflection map particularly made for it. Make an HDRI that looks like what you want to reflect, and then load that into FF as a new environment. 3) Tilt the shards ever so slightly. 4) Check out some of the glass filters already made: http://www.filterforge.com/filters/4954.html

  • Carl's Corner :)
... "StevieJ wrote: he's doing that again, eh???" Am I repeating myself? I have a simple rule about that – don't do it. I think I have been spending too much time chatting and not enough working. "Kraellin wrote: the whole 'environment is responsible for all' is bull crap" Yeah but many people get a pretty bum deal. Try being born black or gay in the south - or just being born in Zimbabwe. :(

  • Can you smell it too?
Author: The ZZ. "Intel-based Macs can run Windows via Bootcamp but they can't execute Mac and Windows code simultaneously within the Mac OS X environment " Steve Jobs has recently (June, 10) claimed that there are 3 ways to run Windows code on Macs: 1) bootcamp; 2) parallels; 3) new vmware. This new VMWare allows to run Windows code simultaneously with native Mac code. http://www....

  • Exr Files
Author: Kraellin. here's a thought; since it's possible to simply change a .jpg to an .exr by simply changing the extension in windows explorer and that that then makes it possible to import this former, but still really a .jpg into FF as a lighting environment, why not just allow a direct import of .jpg's (and maybe even other file formats) into the HDRI import function? seems a simple enough thing.

  • Upcoming EULA changes, round two
... different case. But Fred explained it better than I could. But all of this discussion is far from being business as usual, since in my 10+ years in graphics, I never saw such reactions to unmodified filter use. Then again, FF seems to be a unique and new environment. " I have 22 years of graphics experience, and have seen many many copyright related squabbles of various shapes and forms.

  • Recovered Filter bug
... 'Simple Basic Editor 1', if you wish to look at it. that's the corrected version, however. here's a part of the filter that was messed up: " " as you can see, the lighting environment is named 'Sun 1'. i had several different ones in this filter. i simply went down the entire filter and edited all those old ones out and replaced them all with 'Church'.

  • Add Atmosphere (non-square) by ronviers
... are just a bit burnt out with the white areas" That was an oversight - thanks for bringing it to my attention. Apparently whatever ThreeDee is doing with the 'Proportional Gradient' snippet changes the distance between the image plane and the environment - and I thought I didn't understand it before. :| I will back off on the HDRI brightness and resubmit. I will hold off a couple of days in case someone else catches something I can fix. :)

  • FILTER LIBRARY
Author: leil08. windows? In order to save space and extend the lifespan of my SSD, I have made the following changes (win 10/11) >'Temp' on an external device (Advanced system settings ->Environment Variables) in my case an SDXC card. >PS Scratch Disk on another disk/device (PS creates HUGE temp files, dozens of GB) I have not changed the Roaming folder where the FF files are located, but it's possible. >Select Roaming folder -> ...

Author: uaun. and so goes the needs of "professional" pipelines. I only use FF myself, on my own CPU; but in team environments, I no longer do/can, because I cant get it approved without some sort of categorizing abilities any longer. I still enjoy it myself, especially for use in/with Photoshop, but for my main use, in texturing for gaming, my FF use is dwindling,...
