  • Render Usage and License Terms
... render the images. That's scary. It means I can't use ANY filters that have been made by someone else because they *might* at some later date decide that they don't want the renders output by those filters to be used. I *have* read that the copyright to renders belongs to the person who renders the images, not the filter author. But that will not help if a filter author decides to issue a DMCA takedown and the admins of wherever that render is being used decide not to argue (which they usually ...

  • "Clean" Lighting
... I think we have one or two owners of Maxwell in the forum, and I would be interested to see the response if an incentive was extended to the forum for submitting original high quality HDRIs. I see the only difficulty would be people trying to submit copyrighted HDRIs, but there has to be a way to prevent this I imagine.

  • Legal uses of filters
Author: DigitalMirrors. Hi, I'm new to Filter Forge and would like to understand it's legal use. I've read the terms of use: http://www.filterforge.com/termsofuse.html but this is rather confusing to me. I want to be respectful of copyrights of course. If I use FF filters to stylize 3d renders I do can I sell those?

  • Filter search - filters gone ?
... noticed that some filters are "missing" some keywords that would be helpful in the search. So, here is a suggestion to FF team." Why impossible to add keywords to filters manually? If i add keywords, i must to save filter with loosing copyright! This is craziness!

Author: CFandM. Yep looks like 1 and 3 are from XP sample pictures.. Blue hills and Winter... Don't know what the copyright issue would be with posting these..They would be a iffy pict to post....I'm no lawyer but just my 2cents.. Maybe contact the FF team and have them pull these off..You can also go to stockxchange for picts....

He was apprehended and hauled away in a straight jacket.....kicking and screaming ".....I have to stop him!!! Copyrights!!! Die StevieJ!!! ..... :| ..... :dgrin:

  • CorvusCroax's Junkyard
Author: CorvusCroax. "Kraellin wrote: you have a legal guy? cool" I should probably have put that in quotes... He's our guy who A) knows the most about copyright B) has to power to tell the rest of us what's what. It's not as if he plays golf all day and smokes cigars in a big wood paneled office wearing a top hat. ;)

  • How will EULA effect usage?
... options for authors to allow or disallow within the program. " That's exactly what they plan to do.....I can't remember where, but Vlad clearly stated that the new EULA is going to allow authors the "option" of placing straight result copyright restictions in the filter description.....

  • Carl's Corner :)
... filters + new protective attitude = PROFIT!!! ;) :D I would suggest looking at FF as a marketing tool by which to promote and get exposure for your work.....and a means to put them out there in front of people who would be willing to purchase copyrights from you.....

  • "All your filter are belong to someone else!"
Author: Vladimir Golovin. "Crapadilla wrote: NOT FOR RESALE!!! Do not redistribute any of my textures as textures. [My emphasis added]" Dilla, according to our Upload License, YOU are the copyright holder, and the copycat has just blatantly claimed ownership. I am not a lawyer, but I believe you can DMCA (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Millennium_Copyright_Act) the hell out of them.

  • How can i use filter forge textures
... of Use" or not.....impossible to enforce.....who is to say that a user, who rips images from website, didn't get/buy them from someone with a legitimate copy of FF..... That's why it makes alot more sense to give authors "tangible" copyrights to those images and let them protect them.....and take advantage of it here.....IMHO..... ;)

  • Second Life "merchant" may have your textures
... protection on the way the website library is displayed also so people don't just grab library images and run." IMHO, this is the biggest misuse of Filter Forge. None users of Filter Forge are able to run off with our textures and sell them with their copyright on them. Filter Forge owners and the community at large suffer from this abuse of the filter gallery.

  • Carl's Corner :)
Author: StevieJ. No.....when the new EULA goes into place.....no one gives away any copyrights for free distribution like this.....and start taking royalties for these quick "copy, package, & resell" jobs..... I don't think that too many realize how they can take advantage of the proposed new EULA......and make some money ...

Author: Kraellin. actually, the author never loses copyright rights. he's simply giving FF the right to license his work how FF wishes to. it's a bit of nitpicking, but that's how i read it. and mind you, that's how i read it and i'm not a lawyer nor a representative of FF, inc. one shld read the end ...

  • Would love to be the next owner, but it's IMPOSSIBLE TO BUY
... Share-it appears to be a German based company, and Filter Forge is it's sub (I didn't read all the way through, whether it's a subcontractor or subsidiary) in any case, they're under the share-it's umbrella. (I looked it up few days ago during the copyright discussion)
