  • SpiralGraphics announces Genetica 3.0!
... getting added at some point, then you could have a smooth seamless silver surface just like you see in FF a lot BUT when it is added i think in Genetica it will be better because you have the style and environment designers now and you can use noises and import images and all sorts of cool things rather than just choosing from a few HDRI in a list to adjust. :D One thing i find with FF however is you can get darker colors due to the lighting things and sometimes it's nicer to have a non shaded texture depending on the goal anyway but for 2d design work, realism is great. So ...

  • HDRI or IBL Options
Author: Thomas Bishop. Are there going to be more options than the few HDRI/IBL options than are currently available, and if so, how soon? If not, is there anyone in the community who knows whether or not we can import HDRI/IBL files into this program fr om other programs and utilize them for our needs? I have VUE 7 Extreme, and have about 600 various sky options, and would love to be able to offer a couple hundred to the community if there was a way to use that program ...

  • New Processing Components: Illumination, Shadow, Reflect
... "Kraellin wrote: i mean, who says a custom hdri cant have multiple light sources? " Obviously it can. You can make them in any HDR editor by dropping some extremely bright spots (only a few pixels large) into desired positions on a black lat/long HDRI bitmap (400x200 pixels). Or you can import an LDR map with some white pixels into HDRShop and multiply it by a desired amount.

... how the surface detail looks and will also affect how the specular/reflections will appear in the output. I'll make you a sample filter to explain. "Separately: Is there a way to introduce new environment maps?" Go into tools > HDRI import HDRI import tends to be slow so work with small HDR images.

... ugly. the .exr/hdri files i've been making generally convert to about 2 or 3 megs (when using no larger than 400 pixels on a side). so, a limit there seems pretty reasonable too. i'd love to be able to share some of the environment files and be able to import other's hdri's as well.

... prepared for about 10 minutes or converting per 100k of file size. you can make or use any .jpg you want. just save it as such and then go to windows explorer and find your file and change the file extension to .exr. then open FF and go to tools\hdri import. open that up, use the browse function to find your altered file. click on your file to get it into the file field. add a name for your hdri lighting filter and hit ok. now wait............................................................... ...

  • Free EXR To FFENV Conversion Service (Lighting Environments)
Author: ValhaIIa. Um for some reason the post did not save. Here's a quick overview, and I'll fix the rest later. I have a automation setup for importing hdri files to FF. If you have hdri images scaled to the proper size and don't mind sharing them I will convert them and create a library of open source FFENV files for everyone to use. I'm busy because of the holidays, but I'll rewrite the long post again ...

  • i think i've just found my new camera
Author: ronviers. Hey Craig, neither of the links worked for me. Maybe I need a cookie. Can you give me the model number so I can take a look? I'm glad you're getting one that shoots raw - that is very important to me. Does it have full manual mode? "Kraellin wrote: it does auto-bracketing, 3 frames, for doing HRDI imaging!" Check me if I'm wrong here but I don't think that will help you with HDRI. Usually the autobracketing stops are too close to be useful. You may need to buy or build a remote switch for use as hdri images.

... data and that just seems odd. but again, this may just be a confusion on my part. and if so, perhaps someone can straighten me out on this. nonetheless, the request here is for an imported height bumpmap and an imported lighting map other than the hdri. i'd just like to import an grayscale into a component for both of these. now, knowing that i may be just missing something in all this, i'll go play with FF some more and try and figure out what i'm missing here. so, this may end up not being a request of a feature ...

Author: Vladimir Golovin. "Kraellin wrote: nonetheless, the request here is for an imported height bumpmap and an imported lighting map other than the hdri" There was a discussion on imported bitmap some time ago. Imported bitmaps ruin resolution independence and bring copyright problems. Maybe the solution would be to allow this for user's filters only, not for the Library.
