  • Re Quota Error
Author: StevieJ. Sounds like part of "The Bug" (aka: Resource Leak).....I think FF is currently working on new V1.5 or V2 code to hopefully remedy it..... ;)

  • Top 5 "Fixes"......
Author: StevieJ. "ronviers wrote: correcting the resource leak " Yeah, I've been scratching my head to why FF has not fixed that yet..... :?:

Author: jffe. "StevieJ wrote: Quote ronviers wrote: correcting the resource leak Yeah, I've been scratching my head to why FF has not fixed that yet..... " ----Probably because the only thing that's mattered for 6+ months is the Mac version, without it, and the sales to follow, they'll probably be broke before 2009....

  • I don't know????
Author: Vladimir Golovin. This is probably caused by a resource leak bug, which has been already reported many times. We're still trying to reproduce it.

  • Odd behaviour with Filter Updates
Author: Kraellin. "StevieJ wrote: I would like to be smelling an end to that @#$%&% resource leak..... " yes, dear. thank you, dear. i'll get right on it, dear. ;) :D

  • Strange bug with saving
Author: Crapadilla. "StevieJ wrote: but it sounds like part of the Bastard Bug (aka - resource leak)" If that were true, why didn't I get this bug with earlier versions?

  • Odd behaviour with Filter Updates
Author: Bella. StevieJ, when did it start? With version 1.011 or earlier? No, I don't think it's related to the resource leak. Most likely it's another thing, though it's for the developers to judge.

  • FF Storefronts!!!
Author: StevieJ. "Kraellin wrote: patience grasshopper " Well, to be honest, I'm still thrilled with the "resource leak" looking like it is gone for good....but I don't want Vlad to get too comfortable..... ;) :D LOL....

  • PicLens support for the whole FF site!
Author: Kraellin. the resource leak is real. no question. but this piclens thing seems to be related to something on your system, steve. could be vid drivers or just about anything.

  • Memory Leak: Not enough quota
Author: onyXMaster. P.S. we're surely may be hitting the non-paged pool limit or handle limit (because of resource leaks), but disk quota is just easy to check, while other aren't.

  • Memory Leak: Not enough quota
Author: onyXMaster. Okay, we'll look into it (we have at least two known resource leaks for now, so probably when they will be fixed it will fix this problem also).

  • I don't know????
Author: Kraellin. yes, the multiple reports often accompanies the resource leak bug. i've gotten as many as 120 error reports from one crash. just keep clicking the 'X' and they'll eventually go away.

  • Resource Leak
... closing the app and restarting will flush THOSE resources. however, i'm not sure it will flush other resources that may be taxing the system. quite honestly, i dont know exactly when and how windows makes room in ram. i do know that if i've been playing a resource intensive game, working in paint shop pro and then use FF, my working amount of time before the leak shows seems less than if i just open FF on freshly booting up. and i will qualify that with this is not a benchmarked test or anything, just an impression.

  • Top 5 "Fixes"......
Author: ronviers. Anyone's list that does not have correcting the resource leak as the first five items just doesn't get it. It's one thing to have an unstable product, it's another to entirely ignore it and move on to other things. In the early/mid nineties Corel was on top of the mountain. They had every reason to expect to ...

  • Saving Error!
Author: Kraellin. yes, save to different versions or file names as your work progresses, rock_1, rock_1a, rock_1b, etc., etc. the bug in question is a resource leak. the longer filter forge is running continuously, the more windows/computer resources get used up. eventually, there arent enough resources for FF to work properly and it crashes. it can crash in any number of odd ways, depending on what resources ...

  • FF stuck in hand tool
Author: Kraellin. offhand, not that i totally understand everything you've mentioned, but when FF starts to act weird, it's usually the memory leak bug. your resources get eaten away and there's not enough left for Ff to operate normally...so, it starts to do screwy things. by killing Ff and starting it again, you free up resources again and FF runs normally again... for a while. that's my best guess,...

  • I don't know????
Author: Kraellin. CF, i dont think this resource leak thing is related to any one filter. i believe it's a windows thing. and more than likely isnt an FF bug at all, but rather a windows bug that simply shows up through FF.

  • Top 5 "Fixes"......
... user, but if it slows down updates and bug fixes then I guess it affects us all in the end. I was complaining about some little issues 4-5 months ago, calling it 'amateur hour' til those were addressed, and those were just minor compared to any real resource leak/crashing/locking up probs. So I dunno what to think anymore, the program is genius, but it has flaws, what can ya do. *shrug* Hopefully it all works out for them, and then they can fix up the Pc version and make it better for us. I'm trying to be ...

  • version 1.011 is out!
Author: Vladimir Golovin. Yes, we've released Update 1.011: http://www.filterforge.com/more/news/986.html The update fixes several resource leaks, so I encourage everyone who experienced slowdowns and crashes during long Editor sessions to download this update and give it good run.

  • Filter Forge supporting 64bit OS
... internal 64-bit build that works around 5% faster than 32-bit one. I don't think this performance improvement justifies the need for 64-bit build before 2.0. " Can't let anything get in the way of V2.0 goodies......except for remedying that %$#@&% resource leak, eh??? ;) :D .....
