... inside your filter and I did see where you are going with it. If my previous post came out as "this isn't useful", then I apologize. However, the usefulness of it does vary. I do think its cool, and it would definitely come in handy with 3d environments (maybe it would be more convincing if you had some close-up objects/areas of terrain in addition to the distant mountains). For photos it would be useless since you will always have depth-blur, unless you are blurring far-away objects unequally,...

"yup, very useful. take some of the gradients in psp and make a 200 x 200 image. set it to about 100 ppi (pixels per inch) and run it through the importer in FF. can make some pretty cool lighting environments that way." Thanks, I'll try that. I can always use the filters I make that way for my own use or sharing with any of you here that will install the gradients. "But we can't share them in our uploaded filter we use them in?...

Author: jffe. "Kraellin wrote: and jffe, if i'm understanding your question correctly, the hdri's are the lighting environments you use in surface filters, not simple filters. it's those sphere's that move laterally, like 'forest', 'church', 'day', 'night' and so on. when you import your .exr into FF, it converts it into one of those, only based on your image and ...

... nature' appears to imply that our very nature is somehow fundamentally und unchangeably flawed. This is a view that I do not subscribe to, and hence I avoid the term. If an individual becomes destructive (i.e. 'anti-social'), that is because the social environment denies this individual the possibility of leading the balanced and healthy existence that he/she desires. Just my 1.618 cents though... :D

I was going to post the .ffenv files to the web for others to use but it turned out to be around 12MB so they're too big for my connection. "Kraellin wrote: environment 'sphere' only moves laterally" Another good point. If I had been aware of that I would have flipped the angelballs image so the larger spheres were above the horizon. Still, it's not a bad example because some projects will need the ...

... at all :) I might agree though that there must be a way for users to include their images/HDRIs with filters. But all the details of properly implementing this are so hard to grasp, that I think this won't be done even for 3.0. Vertical lighting environment rotation is something I plan to explore, might be even for 2.0.

  • Rustic Ceiling Tiles
Author: MysticBlueRaven. Your very welcome Craig, one thing I have learned about using textures,in an 3d environment is that they have a tenancy to make the pattern look bigger that what they are, that is why I always made them smaller, even though it looks like they might be to small. Sometimes I end up makng 20 texture maps just to get the size and pattern ...

Wouldn't it be nice if FF had an x,y,z environment and you could type in equations to create these? • Control Locks in V4???
... a huge help as well... " StevieJ, yes, obviously, Lighting controls will be lockable too. The main lighting control would have a single lock affecting the sphere, the point lights and the ambiance settings together. The rest of the controls (Environment, Brightness and Saturation) will have their own separate locks. On the main Settings tab, we'll likely make Size and Variation lockable as well, instead of having people toggle this in Randomizer Options. I'm undecided about randomizing ...

  • Beta doesnt find previous filter library
.... also, that's JUST 'my filters'. if i count everything in 'Filter Forge' within the application data folder, it's 3.82 gigs and over 42,000 files. now, there are quite a few doubles in there because of an old backup, but there's also all the custom environments, presets and whatever else gets put in there. so, even if i say only 3 gigs, that becomes 6 gigs when doubled and i'd almost bet there are companies that have more than that. so, it's not a small amount here.

... much money you want to spend on lawyers versus product development. 4) A cost of community. FF has a nice community. Yes, it's smaller than everyone would like. Author: uaun. it does, on the other hand, if you've tweaked other FF filters, or created your own before, this isnt a very foreign environment IMO. I wouldnt have begun to explore SD as much, if FF would just ...
