How will EULA effect usage?

On one hand, the new EULA will put a major dent in people rendering out straight texture results and reselling them in texture packs without author permission.....especially at reputable sites who do not want to be operating in violation of any copyright restrictions......

I understand that, but that would not have any effect on already licensed users. It is certainly a path that could be taken with future license grants although I don't think it could ...

Author: Genie. That is how I read it, from the very beginning. Authors only have their FILTERS copyrighted. Not presets, or resulting images. And they gave their complete consent to this, so one can´t really blame users for using them commercially. This as always been quite clear to me. But people are going in circles on this.

I think that if you know how to program a plugin, you will also be able to rewrite one that is already available. Although if it is commercial you could problems with the company and the copyright, but probably as this is a FREE plugin and is not done for earning money it could be possible if you know what to do and how to do it.

A filter is designed to be used as a filter....and derivative works of that filter are allowed to be used as an artist sees fit.
My artwork is artwork, fully copyrighted and has no clause for being allowed to be used to create derivative work.

How about making a choice between these two???
A) Protect author's copyrights to filter construction and preset images.....and a library that grows with exemplary filters for you to use.....

B) Have no restrictions on filter use.....and a library that grows with only mediocre and sub-optimal filters for ...

As Vladimir pointed out, a small copyright notice would suffice. If you feel it doesn't: just don't upload to the gallery.

... posted of the screenshot of the upload EULA, reduce all commas and their phrases down a bit, i think you'll see that i'm right. it's a mouthful the way it reads, but you can reduce it down and make it legible/understandable.
and yes, your filter is copyrighted by you, the author, but you better read again about how the sub-licensing works and particularly where it talks about 'unrestricted'.

... probably have certain agreements with researchers who develop algorithms on what account they can release the software. Pretty sure there are all sorts of laws and things that simply get in the way of simply releasing software for "free". Copyright probably gets in the way (for the algorithms) also patents. That's just my speculation.
