  • Repper Type Function Using FF Engine
... creating this filter; it's helped me understand the pattern creation process inside FF, and I freaking love it. :D Now I can make filters that I'd deem worthy of uploading using your filter as a reference in the future. Also, if there is a list of environments you want, please let me know, and I'll convert them soon as I read your message. I don't care if they're 2x the recommended size. I really should see an eye doctor for glasses and an ear doctor for tubes or whatever they do for ears that ...

... comments. For example, I am beginning to look at filters (as Crapadilla suggests) to identify the "building blocks" of various components. I hadn't noticed these groupings before. I'm also trying to see much of this as a visual experience and environment. What am I seeing -- in its parts -- and how might I create these visual elements in a filter? Beliria suggests multiple saves and I'm adapting that to my work flow. Most of you suggested "playing" and I'm enjoying pasting ...

....which makes them like that. For example, take a child born into an abusive family.....in all likelyhood, that child will grow up to be abusive themselves. Take the same child from the same abusive parents and put them into a loving, caring, family environment right after birth.....and it will be much more likely that child will grow up to be a loving, caring person who is not abusive. Just my opinion on it..... :)

... was playing a week ago until I just had to have it. Not only is it a great replacement (and monthly money saver) from WoW, but it actually makes me feel I am able to get back out and hike and ride and swim in a pretty amazing virtual game world. The environment and sounds are really fantastic for someone like myself who use be a very outdoorsy and active person before my disability took over. Oh, I put up some screen-shots of my character in the online world. Right now I just make myself a private ...

... that used a custom, it would also download the custom HDRI. and steviej, would you mind if i borrowed some of your recent 'glass' type images for making HDRI's? i've got a couple 'rainbow' ones currently, but yours might make for some interesting environments.

All Vue tools are now fully integrated in the host application, providing direct access to the most advanced 3D environment creation technologies (including EcoSystem Painting). Users of Autodesk 3ds Max and Maya, Softimage XSI, Maxon Cinema 4D and Newtek LightWave will greatly benefit from Vue xStream’s unprecedented and unmatched 3D Digital Nature creation ...

... camera from a friend, some metal balls and make some HDRIs myself along with making them available to forum people, since I also find the assortment of HDRIs in FF a bit ... limited. A good, physically correct renderer like Maxwell along with a good environment library might help also, but no chance I'm going to buy them myself :)

  • more terminology questions
... to Sethren's explanation is that we don't use the term "Highlight" in Filter Forge. While the term itself is perfectly valid and well accepted among CG people, we prefer to use the term "Reflection" -- since Filter Forge uses HDRI environments for lighting, and the term Highlight is mostly used for point lights. We didn't want to use terms like that in the Editor to make it more accessible to people unfamiliar with insider terms like Specular Exponent. The rendered maps, however,...

It's just human nature, niceties bring smiles and good feelings all around, and in an environment like that how can you loose... and what will you loose doing it? ;) Kodos, Steve :D

I also considered using it as a transparency map, but would need to invert the black area to white. With a transparency map, you could even place objects behind the crystal areas, or add a light source behind them to throw colored light ...

  • Some Business Ideas For Filter Forge.....
... There will come a point when filter makers will loose incentive to produce filters just to benefit FF. Sooner or later, someone will develope software that will take this idea and make it better....like being more compatable with other programs, 3D environments, plug in to CADD programs, allowing users to create 8bf plugins to use how they want, etc. Giving filter makers this kind of incentive would (1) draw and keep filter makers at FF, (2) promote the design of new filters, (3) keep filter makers ...

  • Better User Interface
... and accuracy between making textures and not just eyeballing it every time a new asset is produced..." I'm all for more precise lighting controls - and more flexible UI in general. As a workaround, you can have precise control over the lighting environment parameters by modifying the ffxml file. It's in plain text and easy to edit. This could potentially be automated with a script. I believe FF needs to be restarted in order to update the modified ffxml. The exact lighting settings can also ...

Author: MysticBlueRaven. Thank you very much Steve, I am not much into computer games. I am more of an sci-fi fanasty person. I have been wanting some unique environments for my renders that I make in either bryce, vue 4.22 or poser and one day to incorperate into my models I will making in hexagon. That is what I love about FF, there is so many filers that you can make or presets using the kaleidoscope ...

... systems which will support 16-32 hardware threads (16 cores), probably 8-core GPUs with different cores (say 2 base rendering, 4 custom geometry processing like Cell SPEs, 2 post processing for DX10-like render targets). Offloading tasks to GPU in such environment requires a lot of effort without great benefits (not only the architecture needs change, the algorithms of components themselves aren't very suited for GPU-based implementation). The summary is that we prefer CPU-based scaling with number ...

I'll try it, but would much prefer something that is native to the Mac environment. Scripting is like magic for people like me, so I don't even know how to offer an appropriate pay incentive. $500? More? I can pay via any of the normal channels like PayPal, or I can pay in ETH if given a wallet address. This is: My LinkTree ...

... capability extends to producing stills as well, so you can write out 2D stills if you want to, just like you could with AfterEffects. So the intention of the program maybe for performance, but it's usage is for anything you want it to be. It's a programmable environment in that sense as well. If you want you can make yourself a little painting program and make a trigger-able write-node that exports high res jpegs or something so you can have your audience paint, press a button, and print results out on ...

In fact, it was much easier with just plain Photoshop with a couple of layers and curves than with FF. Since this is such a ridiculous filter and I don't know if I'm going to bother to try and figure out the encoding side of it, here's ...

Then take a snapshot of what you have created in the FF 3D sub-environment to import back into the the FF 2D environment. You could also have the ability to create perspectives etc. on the snapshot.... Taking it one step beyond a 3D mesh map of an image....3D shapes and objects could be constructed, texture or photo skinned, snapshot, and imported back. ...
