It's a possibility, but then you lose the layering effect where the metalic part of Inujima's balls is higher than the texture.
What you will get is only the top lookup of his filter (The one connected to surface color of the result).
Either way, you lose something in the process.

^ Grab that, and ins ert it into the clouds filter (or any that you want to use) and just plug everything fr om that (clouds or whatever) filter, in to the Profile Gradient (color 2) wh ere the Blocks module is now (and then delete it, it's just a placeholder to illustrate). Then plug that into the "Result" module and then close/save the filter, and you should see clouds (or whatever) up top. You can alter the height ...

Any Angle Rotate works great but for certain filters its not ideal. I'm making a color halftone filter and it requires 3 copies of the snippet which makes everything run quite slow.

A little confused about how ff handles linear images
... preserves original pixel values for image processing and have a copy of them for gamma-corrected preview.
If you load the image in FF (gamma correction is turned on), you will see the same preview as in PS, but pixel value will be 0.7 (check it out with color inspector).
So FF with enabled gamma changes pixel values during image loading. Of course, FF doesn't change values of the original image, it just copies image into internal cache and produce gamma correction for it.
Why is it so? Besides of image processing FF uses pixel data for numerical calculations. For example, linear-gamma gradients will be really confusing for users who use it for grayscale ...
But why

Post the filter again it would be helpful...Also save the the filter and work on a copy of it of corse but, try connecting a 3color grad to the 1st color of the 5 color grad.. and futher control it this way also....Don't know if it will work for this filter but worth another try... :)
Input hex color values
Author: Andrew B.. It would be nice if Filter Forge could accept input of hex color values. Then I could copy and paste values from my color picker. As it stands now, I have to break apart RGB values, which is such a pain I end up entering them by hand. Being able to enter hex values would be a welcome feature.

As for your command-line task, everything works as expected. The format should be specified by the format="PNG" attribute of the Result tag, not by the file name.
Crash copying a color control inside a group
Author: CFandM. I made a group with an image and gamma component...Then within that group I added a color component to the workspace and tried to copy and paste then boom...So yep it crashes here as well..Same error... :|

Here is a test to try in PS to show that the foreground alpha channel does get factored in for those modes:
1. Open some colored image into Photoshop.
2. Duplicate the original image layer so that you have a copied layer above it.
3. Erase part of that duplicated/copy layer (using the Eraser at 100% opacity or select an area and Edit->Cut it out).
4. Adjust the blend mode to be: Linear Burn, Linear Dodge, or Vivid Light.
