  • Image components for multiple sources
... photograph in the noise distortion source and a black and white image in the distortion parameter. Offcourse I have no idea if this technological even can be implemented and if it actually can be, that the rendertimes will go through the roof like the hdri import times. But I can imagine the possibilities.

... extension to .exr . that extension is what the import routine needs. it wants to see that or it wont do it. (i think it recognizes a couple other extensions as well, but i simply use the .exr since i know this works.) then, simply go to tools> import hdri and use the browse button to find your altered file and load it. be sure to set a name in that same window for your new environment/lighting file. hit ok and wait. on the image sizes i mentioned and with a decently fast computer, it shldnt take more ...

  • Lighting environments
... forge and somewhere in the menu system there is a menu item of something like 'import .exr' file or 'convert to exr' or something like that... hang on, i better start up FF and see... ah, there it is. under "Tools" is an item called "HDRI import". click on that and it will bring up a window. click on the 'browse' button and browse to your .jpg that you converted to an .exr . once that's there, add in a name for your new environmental lighting and click on 'import'. be advised, ...

  • Image blender
... sort of work-around for importing multiple images at one time, though certainly not as elegant or efficient as having two or more images loaded at one time. you simply save your image that's been worked in FF and then load that back into FF as your imported image and work it again under new parameters. yeah, not really a great solution, but i've done it on some images. the whole 'sub-editor' field is a wide open area yet to FF. a grey scale sub, an hdri sub and i'm sure there are several other possibilities as well, could all potentially exist within an FF type program. give me an airbrush tool, a color picker and a clean, blank field as a sub-editor and i could have some fun :) there's lots of ...

  • Amethyst's Beginner's Sandbox
Author: Kraellin. amethyst, hmmm, messing up a bit... if you liked it well enough to post it... and got good comments on that, then leave it alone ;) there's nothing says you cant do a second one... messed up a bit :) yup, hdri is cool. the rule for doing your own is, keep the imported image small, like VERY small... 200 x 400 pixels or so. i've also done square ones, 400 x 400; otherwise, be prepared to leave your computer on all night rendering them out. and yes, i have quite a few custom ones, but like you said, no one ...

  • New Processing Components: Illumination, Shadow, Reflect
... and fast pseudo 3D processing nodes called Illumination, Shadow, Reflect and Refract. Now, Refraction we already have, and - obviously - FF has surface type filters to simulate indirect illumination and reflection (and indirect 'shadowing' from the HDRI lighting) most excellently. Direct illumination and 'hard' shadows are missing, though. What would make Illumination, Shadow and Reflect components appealing? You could use them INSIDE of filters (inside simple filters, most importantly), and be able to further process their pseudo-3D results as opposed to having those effects applied after the fact in the result node. They are similar to the Refraction component in that - apart from the image map - they would require an ...

" ----I think you can import those HDRI reflection/lighting thingers into FF, but you have to buy those seperatley from other companies etc. Someone on here (a reg) has done it, maybe they'll wander by and offer more details. ----I wasn't complaining about your filter in particular, ...

... are just shapes with lighting, not outdoor/real life scenes, and I kept them small at 400 X 800, so they won't take all day to import, since you may not like them anyhow. They look best on very shiny, flatter, metallic-ish filters, ie = Stevie will dig ... ... • JPG to EXR library
... multiplication might serve you well. I would also like to note, that Filter Forge lighting process outputs unclipped HDR images, so if you save the render into PFM/EXR formats (or floating-point TIFF if you love exotic things :)), you will get a proper HDRI image (well, the contrast won't be 6000:1 like on some proper sunlit nature HDRIs, but it's a lot better). And please, do share quality imported environments (.ffenv files, located in "%APPDATA%\Filter Forge\My Environments") -- it will save other people a lot of time. I'm not sure if current upload limit will permit uploading resulting .ffenv files, but I'm sure you can poke ...
