... "Rawn (RawArt) wrote: a displacement channel " I would love to be able to do that, but I don't currently have a 3D package which supports displacement channels. The closest I could come would be to use the bump map in Bryce, as a height ... ... a terrain object. (Although... I suppose I could create 3 'symmetrical lattice' objects, and position them to look like a cube... Might have to try that... ;) )

  • Cube Rotation Fantasy by Ramlyn
Author: Ramlyn. "SpaceRay wrote: WOW!! This is really awesome and amazing that you can use such 3D cubes in such artistic and tiling way so unusual using those rotations really cool and unique and with many options to choose on variations as seen below" Thank you. I still have some ideas connected with what I did in this filter and that I didn't ...

  • wiki addition request: 3D tutorial
... "infiniview wrote: Blender might be tough for most people due to its tricky interface." My guess is a most 3D apps are tricky because of the million options one has (so a simple tutorial would help). Maybe a good wiki setup is a list of 3D apps and one tutorial for each describing the same scene setup: a phere, plane or cube primitive with an FF shader. (hey wow... POV ray... I remember that from 15 years back or so... command line)

  • Perlin noise seams
... over the place. We consulted with Ken Perlin and he advised us to use a domain rotation trick, which we built into FF1.0. The cubing still appears sometimes, and the only way to minimize it is to tweak the variation setting, which affects the internal 3D rotation of Perlin octaves before they are sliced into 2D.

  • Off the Deep End with ThreeDee
Author: StevieJ. "ThreeDee wrote: I have a secret ambition to be able to make a fully rotatable 3D cube one day." I had been thinking the same thing from your work.....which has now made me think that it's possible to take it even further than that into the 3D realm..... First, I've been trying to think of a way to use your lathe ...

  • Examples of Spherical 3D Displacement Previewer by ThreeDee
... to make a test with this image below that ThreeDee have made very well and shown in Other Interesting Ideas (http://filterforge.com/forum/read.php?FID=10&TID=5660&MID=110690&sphrase_id=1175688#message110690) http://filterforge.com/upload/forum/70c/3D%20boxes%20center%20perspective%20s01.jpg and as it is made with black and white and gray shades I have loaded this into the 3 maps as source and got this beautiful chrome ball with cubes Extrusion 15

  • 3D sphrerical geometric hexagonal tiled viewed from inside challenge
... image shown below and this reminds me much to filter forge, in that there are geometric shapes tiled, and there are some missing hexagonal tiles (holes), as it can be done in some filters. And after the sucess of some other tilings challenges, with cubes and also hiperbolic tilings, I have though if it would be possible to make a filter to make something like the image shown below. If not possible, it does not need to have the hexagonal tiles in 3D shapes (I mean with width) as they are shown. And would be complete round and not cut in the lower part as it is shown here.

  • FF textures to Bryce?
... WHICH 3D software would be good to have similar results to the 4 examples shown above here that are done with the 3D Previewer Displacement map of ThreeDee. Of course that I can do it in FF if I want a sphere, but what happens if I want to have a cube, a box, a cone, or another shape that could have this same 3D simulated effects ?

  • The Orange Head
... vertical face. It's hard to explain. " Well, I really do NOT want to have windows and so they could be similar to buildings, this was something Morgantao said :D , but what I really would like is to be add you own textures to the sides of the nice cubes or 3D vertical shapes, but if this is difficult and not possible, do not worry.

Author: SpaceRay. • Unity 3D support
....com/#/content/14147) gives really a new awesome Materials engine, then I think that it will be able to make even better 3D graphics thanks to the ability to make the 3D render maps in FF and then use them in Unity. "Unity is a game engine. Not your average 3D software like Cinema4D. You can't model, but you can arrange. And it's fun arranging." I totally agree that Unity ONLY has very basic of primitive shapes modelling (cubes, sphere, etc.) and you can´t model more complex things, although as you say you can arrange model imported from .FBX, .max, .blend and .obj and I agree that of course Unity was made and created for making games, BUT is not ONLY a game engine,...

  • Making graphics with FF ... my Gallery

On the other hand, it's free, and there's alot of tutorials and videos on how to use it. If all you want is a sphere and a cube to test run your textures, I imagine this would be easy to learn. • Beta 5.0 Stage 2 Teaser?
Author: Vladimir Golovin. "For example, a component to simulate easy 3D surfaces ( spheres, cubes, etc. ). • Spherical mapping for noise components
... noise-filters that can easily be animated. The animations would even be seamless (if Z goes from 0 to 1 and seamless is turned on). Plugging in a Sinal-ProfileGradient into the noises Z will create a spherically mapped noise (very handy for texture maps on 3D spheres, cylinders or even cubes). (I really hope the mac version is just coming along nicely :-p)

The node grouping and zoom are on high priority because we view them as the key tools to manage complexity....
