  • Carl's Corner :)
Author: ronviers. "Beliria wrote: Its an artificial environment so there for it can't be classed as natural. As to healthy that is debatable" But I do miss Firefly. :(

  • Lighting HDRI
Author: Kraellin. i dont think so, jffe. the FF engine is currently only wired to move them laterally. so, extra imported environments wouldnt change that.

  • HDRI Upload/download Library?
Author: Crapadilla. I'd also put in my vote for a HDRI repository. I'd probably be the first to upload some of Paul Debevec's free hdri environments converted to ffenv format. ;)

  • HDRI Upload/download Library?
Author: Kraellin. i wasnt either. for the library, i meant using the finished environment files. i would have just posted them in the forums, but they are well over the 250k limit.

  • HDRI Upload/download Library?
... a lot lower resolution than the target image (4x smaller on both axis easily, up to 10x and even more if you're willing to sacrifice some quality). On the other hand, smooth, highly reflective surfaces with reflection blur close to zero may require environment map resolution LARGER than the target image (2x at a minimum, 4x even better). I'm not going to dive into the reasons for this -- if you would like to know I recommend you to google/wikipedia for "environment mapping" or "reflection ...

  • New awesome TEXT component FF 14 - How to get the most of it?
Author: SpaceRay. "Quote SpaceRay wrote: I think this means that you can not submit a filter to Filter library with any CUSTOM text?? And what about single letters?""CFandM wrote: That is the way that I see it. Same as custom HDR environments if you submit a filter it will default to the default environment. Thus the filter will not look the way you designed it to. By text they mean font as well as text string." Thanks, I understand of course that you can NOT upload a filter ...

... library(around there), its absurd that I cant organize them in any sensible manner. I find myself NOT downloading great new filters because I can barely rummage through the ones I have when I need them. For working on projects(especially in team environments on game/film pipelines), this lack of a basic "feature" is a deal-breaker for many users. This is a feature that needs to be in a minor update IMO, not a major update 2 or 3 versions down the road. Not sure if I can wait YEARS ...

  • The Disquisitions of Betis
Author: Betis. The environment is really hard to make... I feel like I'm going backwards trying to tweak everything... here's what it looked like before this last render

  • Group Filter # 1
Author: ronviers. I added two blends and made a color change to the gradient. I also changed the HDRI brightness and selected a different environment. I didn't see any rules against that.

  • Capt'n Cheeky & His Crew
Author: Kraellin. yeah, i actually had thought of using the silver surfer one. i did make a custom hdri lighting environment from it. but, i was thinking more of a hammer smashing glass ;)

  • Filter Forge for 3d application
Author: StevieJ. "aa13x wrote: This would be SOOOOOO cool if it was able to run in 3d apps" Yeah.....even cooler if FF had its' own 3D environment.....

  • Submission Error
Author: Crapadilla. "Bella wrote: Crapadilla, are you quite sure this is the filter you were trying to submit? " Absolutely affirmatively positive! :D "Bella wrote: The thing is this filter contains a user-imported environment (HDRI file), and such filters aren't accepted into the Library. You should have seen this on the second page of the Submit Wizard as a "problem with the filter". In all probability, you couldn't have seen the error message. You should ...

  • "result" component using scripts
Author: TheFarLeft. That's not how you spell "bump". To do so, you'd need to be able to call the lighting environment in a script. That's not possible... right?

  • And I Thought Rendering Times Were Slow...
Author: Mark321. Thanks Skybase! It worked in minutes instead of hours. Now, if only there were some way to REMOVE one of these images from the environments list. Anybody?

  • Lighting effects
Author: Sphinx.. $10000 and a six pack  This is not a replica or anything remotely similar to the PS filter; it is simple utilization of the build in lightning environment in FF. Might be something.

  • JPG to EXR library
Author: ronviers. "jffe wrote: probably wasting any time spent" I think it's too soon to tell but I do know FF sets the bar high with the environments they provide.

  • HDRI Upload/download Library?
Author: onyXMaster. The .ffenv files from the "My Environments" folder are fully transferable between different copies of Filter Forge, so there's no reason to publish only original files.

  • Cross Weave by ronviers
Author: Kraellin. the trick with having a surface filter look like a simple filter, is to turn down the height under the lighting tab. that way you still get some of the hdri environments.

  • Has anyone here used Allegorithmic's Substance Designer?
... agree with you, and is GMM that must move it. "Skybase wrote it is a software geared towards a fairly specific use. It's not as free-for-all as FilterForge. FilterForge better because it has this "do whatever you want" sort of environment. Substance does but not to the same degree " YES, is true, this software is MAINLY for specific professional and industrial texturing and painting in 3D and for big companies that need to make specific things in their work, and this ...

  • Repper Type Function Using FF Engine
... Adobe. Well, that's what I've been told by many. Thank you for the sources; I'll be checking them out. I can't wait to see the finished product. :) Also, awesome preview, it's flawless! I'm converting EXRs to FFENVs that can be dropped directly into the environment folder; then restart FF, and the environments will show up. I wrote a script to automate it and let it run for a month. I still have a ton of HDRIs that need converting to EXRs and then FFENVs. Thankfully, HDRI to EXR takes seconds, unlike ...
