  • JPG to EXR library
Author: ronviers. I did on last night that took hours, I think it was 1200x600, and it did not end up looking any better than the 400x200 that I just posted. :?:

  • Custom Reflection Environment?
Author: CFandM. Yep you can do this....Find some stuff HERE (https://www.filterforge.com/forum/search.php?q=400x200&FORUM_ID=0) and then how to import HERE (https://www.filterforge.com/more/help/MainWindow/HDRIImport.html)

... sure there is enough dynamic range in them, use histogram tool in your favorite image processing software. LDR image with low dynamic range (i.e. too dark or too light) makes _very_ poor lighting. Rule #5 -- resolution of the image should be at least 400x200 WITHOUT scaling up. There is NO POINT to scale up a 200x100 image to 400x200. Don't use bicubic scaling when downscaling, especially for LDR images. It may introduce unnecessary artifacts in high-frequency zones, while quality improvement in low-frequence ...

  • Environment Imput for Filter Type: Surface
Author: onyXMaster. A minor notice -- custom environments may be used to some degree (error is around 7% on a 1024x1024 image with hemisphere and a 400x200 input environment and is invisible to an untraied eye) without special preparation (latitude/longitude format still required) if the "reflection blur" is locked to zero.

  • Environment Imput for Filter Type: Surface
... environment is to import it using Tools -> HDRI import. It's a lengthy process (taking tens of minutes for medium-sized images), requires a specially prepared input image (HDRI in latitude/longitude format) and produces a large output (around 2 MB for 400x200 input image).

  • So I made HDRI maps for FF
... Alright, so I updated the wiki page with 1 image so far. I honestly have no idea if its cool having a 1000x500 exr image for use in FF. It's "recommended" according to help, but the trouble is it's pretty sluggish loading HDRI maps into FF. :( 400x200 loads ok, but I feel any size larger is slow. Any thoughts on that?

  • New Processing Components: Illumination, Shadow, Reflect
... mean, who says a custom hdri cant have multiple light sources? " Obviously it can. You can make them in any HDR editor by dropping some extremely bright spots (only a few pixels large) into desired positions on a black lat/long HDRI bitmap (400x200 pixels). Or you can import an LDR map with some white pixels into HDRShop and multiply it by a desired amount.

"Kraellin wrote: the reason i rotated" I wanted to mention that you can check the 'Remove Base' to remove the horizontal bottom section then choose 'New Image' from the FF menu and select 400x200 to save some time. "Kraellin wrote: stellar filter" :D Thanks!

  • HDRI Import
... one (see Paul Debevec's HDRShop), it still requires a lot of computation effort, since we're computing width*height*K cosine-weighted spherical integrals, where K is a number roughly equal to 15. I would recommend you to use images no larger than 400x200 (latitude-longitude format) to get reasonable import times. Future releases may support multithreaded import (it's was implemented long time ago, just not "plugged into" the interface) for those people with dualcore CPUs. P.S. The ...

  • HDRI Upload/download Library?
Author: onyXMaster. 400x200 will result in better quality distribution along the surface. And about longitude and latitude -- IIRC in case of a planet it's 360 latitude (along the equator) and 180 longitude (along the meridians). In any case, the 2:1 is the proper aspect ...

... the Checker component. In order for a discrete filter to be seamlessly tiled, the aspect ratio of the source image must be integer. The aspect ratio is the ratio of the image width to the image height, for example an image with the dimensions of 400x200 pixels has an integer aspect ratio of 2, and an image of 300x200 pixels has a non-integer aspect ratio of 1.5. For vertically oriented images with the height greater than the width (for example 200x400 pixels), the width and height get reversed ...
