  • Changeable DPI in the user preferences setting
... would be very handy and useful that FF can be configured the DPI settings for the standalone version Also would be good that FF should Keep the same DPI as it already has when imported the image, because the result of any rendered result is always at 72 DPI independently of what DPI the source did have before Here are already some threads about this topic Search in FF forum for 72 dpi conversion of rendered result (https://www.filterforge.com/forum/search.php?q=72+dpi&FORUM_ID=0) Alternatively ...

  • DPI question.
Author: onyXMaster. Hint: 72 is the default Windows image DPI (so one pixel equals one typographic point) :) Filter Forge does not write DPI information in files it saves. It's your graphics software that defaults to 72 DPI when it loads file that does not have DPI information embedded. FYI: General support for DPI fields is built into FF, but since it does not preserve DPI information obtained from files (for reasons specified above), it should not write it, since ...

  • Low DPI when saving
Author: SpaceRay. Yes, Rick Duim is right, FF output images at 72 DPI but this is only a change from the original 300 DPI, I mean that FF does not change the quality of the image, is kept the same, only changes the DPI value that you can return back again to 300 DPI whithout any quality loss, unless you DO NOT USE RESAMPLE,...

  • FF rendering in 72 dpi on 300 dpi image
Author: Lianne. If I apply a Filter Forge filter - like grunge or one of the many painting styles, my final image comes out as 72dpi even if I started with a 300 dpi image. Frankly, 72 dpi is useless to me in creating art work for sale or to make fine art prints. Is there some way to adjust settings or make the program render in higher resolution or at least in the original image resolution? Lianne Schneider

  • Low DPI when saving
... image that was approximately 3 inches across and 300 DPI (thus, it needed to be approx. 900 pixels across). I opened the image in FF, ran it through a filter, and saved the resulting image. When I opened it in PhotoFiltre Studio, it said it was now 72 DPI. Now, here is where I may have gotten confused -- I thought it said that it was 72 DPI and still 900 pixels across, which I think wouldn't have printed well. When I downloaded GIMP and opened the image, it allowed me to increase the DPI without ...

Author: SpaceRay. THE 72 DPI/PPI LIMITATION OF FF CAN BE SOLVED IF USED AS A PLUGIN APPLYING TO THE IMAGE WITHOUT SAVING DIRECTLY FROM FF I have made some tests and if use the standalone version it will always save the result as 72 pixels/inch BUT I have seen that if you ...

Author: Rachel Duim. I just tested FF14 Mac standalone, it took my 6144x4608 300 dpi PNG and output 6144x4608 72 dpi. No loss in quality, changed dpi. I normally set dpi indirectly at print time by setting the width/height and the print driver sets the correct dpi for you. I don't use the plugin, but I believe it does not change the dpi of the image. It would be ...

... images at does not matter because it is interchangeable once the image has been generated. What does matter is the pixel dimensions of the image. So, for example, a 1024 x 1024 image (stated in pixel dimensions) is still that size whether set to 72 DPI or 300 DPI. The difference between them only comes up when you output the image to a printer. 1024 x 1024 @ 72 dpi = 14.22" x 14.22" 1024 x 1024 @ 300 DPI = 3.41" x 3.41" When you upgrade to the Pro version, one of the ...

  • FF Keeps telling me to Download the New Update
Author: tigerAspect. Yeah, that extra step in PS to change the DPI could get annoying for sure. GMM, 3Dillusions IS talking about the the DPI. Because FF does not set DPI info, it uses the default of 72 DPI. This creates extra prep work before printing, as you need to change the DPI for any sort of printing process to work. I actually fully agree with 3Dillusions here, it's ridiculous for a graphics program to not set DPI info.

  • FF Killing Resolution
Author: StevieJ. I just discovered why all my renders at high res are not coming out right... FF is converting all resolutions to 72 DPI while keeping the same pixel size...thus degrading the result resolution of any image higher than 72 DPI put through any filter... This one should definitely be at the top of FF's "Must Fix ASAP" list... :|

  • FF Killing Resolution
Author: ThreeDee. I was about to again suggest converting the image to 10000x10000 72 dpi before feeding it into FF, then I dedided to give it a try. I think there is some other problem here, for when I tried a 4752x3168 pixel image both at 300 ppi and a 72 ppi and neither exhibited any issues: both came out at full resolution. Yes,...

  • Low DPI when saving
Author: Haras Arch. I am running FF 4.0 as a standalone program. I have a TIF image that is 300 DPI when I import it into FF, but when I run it through a filter, save it as a TIF, and check the DPI using PhotoFiltre Studio, it has gone down to 72 DPI. Is there a way to make it save at 300 DPI in FF? I want to use the resulting filtered image in print. I can use PhotoFiltre Studio to resave it at 300 DPI, but I'm not sure if it will print well.

  • Converter of Centimeters measure to Pixels for using Pixel Awareness FF 5
... right that is very important to consider also the DPI measure so here I have found a new pixel converter from milimeters to pixel and using the additional DPI required to calculate it www.pixelcalculator.com (http://www.pixelcalculator.com/) 72 dpi for screen and 300 dpi for high quality printing It lets you add the DPI and it gives you many additional data below about this topic, and I have tested it with Photoshop and seems to be right 1200 mm x 1200 cm x 300 dpi = 14173 pixels Also ...

It wasn't from a source image measured in double digit square footage. Most wide format printing is done in the range of 72 to 100 PPI for the source image and the output DPI is set in the range of 720 to 1440 DPI. The results are beautiful.

Author: Rachel Duim. FF outputs images at 72 DPI. You can fix this in Photoshop losslessly by going to Image / Image Size and unchecking the resample box, then changing the DPI as needed and saving the file. • Colorspace in FF
... format FILTER FORGE STANDALONE WILL ALSO CHANGE THE DPI TO 72DPI The standalone version will not only change the colorspace, it will also change the DPI to 72dpi. So if you use a 300 dpi image for printing the rendered result will be saved as 72 dpi and although you will not loose any quality because you can reassign the number of dpi, you must be aware that you need to change the dpi of filter forge rendered resultsaved from filter forge standalone The explanation to this I think maybe is ...
