– How and when did you start your way in photography and graphic design? Is it your work or your hobby?
I would consider photography and graphic design both a hobby and work. I started my interest in photography 30 years ago when I was 16 years old. When I was 22, I joined the Army so I could get formal education and I became a photographer and videographer for the Army. At the time my photography education was all film and I started my journey with graphic design and Photoshop soon after.
'Consumed', one of the first creations with FF. Filters: Bad Trip and Organics.
– When and how did you find Filter Forge?
I first found out about Filter Forge in 2007 when searching for something more flexible and advanced as I wanted to have more options than Photoshop filters could offer. When I came upon Filter Forge, I was excited about the community and having the ability to modify existing filters or create my own.
– How do you use Filter Forge in your workflow? What other programs do you use?
I use Filter Forge in so many ways. I use it for textures, filters and pattern making by applying to images to create elements or as a finishing touch. The other programs I mainly use are Photoshop, Illustrator and Infinite Painter.
'The Power Within'. Filters: Bad Trip and Daub.
– Have you tried to process videos or create procedural animation in Filter Forge?
I have experimented a little bit with processing videos with the new Filter Forge 12. I'm excited about the procedural animation abilities so I can create moving images as well and add a new dimension to my work.
'Calculating the Next Move'. Filters: Bad Trip and various Glitch filters.
– What filters do you like most? Can I have a list of your favorite filters?
A few of my favorite filters are, Bad Trip, Sketchy painting, Polygon painting, Laaaaaaag and Channel Glitch just to name a few.
'Hidden Knowledge'. Filter: Square Distort.
– Have you ever tried to make your own filters? If yes, which ones?
I tried creating a few times, something I want to explore more, but but mostly experiment with modifying existing filters.
'The Armor of Torment'. Filters: Bad Trip and various Glitch filters.
– What filters and features are you missing in Filter Forge?
Honestly there isn't much I would change. I've always wanted video and animation support and here we have it in version 12! I wish it would use the graphics card for faster renders, but I do have a dinosaur for a computer at the moment so I'm sure that would be a non-issue with a current setup.
