Amplitude

The Amplitude component modifies the output range of the source curve by adjusting its amplitude and offset. This is a curve component, it can be located in the Curve Ops category on the Components Bar.

Amplify: Map Input

Amplifies the source curve. If the resulting output range of the curve exceeds the maximum output range, the curve is clipped accordingly (the clipping is not visible when Minimum, Maximum and Offset are set to default values). Since Amplify is a map input, its value can be controlled separately for different image areas by connecting a map component to this input.

Minimum and Maximum: Map Inputs

Minimum and Maximum define the output range of the curve. When the Minimum value is greater than the Maximum value, they get reversed – the Minimum parameter defines the Maximum value and vice versa. This is needed to avoid turning the curve upside down. Since Minimum and Maximum are map inputs, their values can be controlled separately for different image areas by connecting a map component to any of these inputs.

Offset: Map Input

Shifts the curve vertically. Positive values shift the curve upwards, negative values shift it downwards. The Offset value is added to the output level of the curve after Amplitude, Minimum and Maximum have been applied. Since Offset is a map input, its value can be controlled separately for different image areas by connecting a map component to this input.

Wrap: Map Input

When turned on, wraps the amplified curve values, converting negative out-of-range curve values to positive ones and visa versa. For example, if amplification yields a value of -5, it is converted to 95, and a value of 105 will be converted to 5. When this option is turned off, out-of-range curve values are clipped.

When a map component is connected to this input, the state of the checkbox is determined separately for different image areas by the brightness level of the image supplied by that component. The brightness level of 0 to 50 corresponds to unchecked Wrap, and the level of 50 to 100 corresponds to checked Wrap.

Source: Curve Input, Required

Provides the source curve. This is a required input – to make the Amplitude component work, this input must be connected.
