Brightness / Contrast

This component is obsolete and its use in filters is not recommended. Use the recent version of the component.

The Brightness / Contrast component adjusts the brightness and contrast of the image provided by the Source input. This operation affects only the color of the source image, it does not affect its alpha channel. This is a map component, it can be located in the Adjustments category on the Components Bar.

Source: Map Input, Required

Provides the source image on which the adjustment will be performed. This is a required input – in order to make the Brightness / Contrast component work, this input must be connected.

Brightness: Map Input

Adjusts the brightness of the source image. Values below 0 make the image darker, with Brightness of -100 making it completely black. Values higher than 0 make the image brighter, with Brightness of 100 making the image completely white. Brightness of 0 has no effect on the source image. Since Brightness is a map input, its value can be controlled separately for different image areas by connecting a map component to this input.

Contrast: Map Input

Adjusts the contrast between the lightest and darkest areas of the image. Values above 0 increase the contrast, values below 0 decrease it, while Contrast of 0 has no effect on the source image. Since Contrast is a map input, its value can be controlled separately for different image areas by connecting a map component to this input.

Preserve Color: Numeric Input

When turned on, the adjustment affects only the lightness of the source image, leaving its hue and saturation unchanged. For more information, see Preserve Color: How It Works.
