Ok... I'm at the end of my latin here.
I'm trying to create a spiral thing like this: but I can't seem to get the bands evenly spaced. (btw.. is there no way to put multiple images in one post?) ![]() |

That happens because the angular gradient is not 100% angular - I noticed this some time ago because I had similar problems. I didn't find a solution back then, but perhaps I should give it another go.. I'll return if I find out something useful

no, there is no way to post multiple images in one post
![]() no idea on your filter, though. maybe uber or voldemort will show up. If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

Yup. Although uberzev's snippet works fine for most cases, I still feel that a 100% correct (i.e. hard-coded) angular gradient is one of those components that should be introduced in the future. --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid redundant feature requests!" ;) |

cool
![]() you might take a look at the various snippets or volde's filters. he's done some pretty wild things with stuff like this. If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

If I understand your problem correctly, then Sphinx does have a solution to this in one of his filters ('Sonar Screen'). Check the even bands on this... ![]() --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid redundant feature requests!" ;) |

By god you're right... great...!!!
(But there's a frame in there: frame breaks scale. Maybe that's why Sphinx said he didn't find a solution.) |

?? http://www.filterforge.com/forum/read...4&TID=4561 I put like 6 images into this post. Why can't you put multiple images in? |

Those are images on another domain. I'd rather upload them to ff. Otherwise one day they might just disappear.

Yeah, that radar/sonar thing is not the right solution to the problem. The problem is in detail that the curvature of the four/eight parts that make up the angular gradient as a whole is incorrect (you can even spot seams btwn them in extreme range expansion cases). To make a truly correct angular gradient we need an arctan2 function or similar.

Which apparently we don't have at the moment, so we might as well turn to 'sub-optimal' solutions... ![]() --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid redundant feature requests!" ;) |

'post', not 'thread'. a post is a single entry within a thread. If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

She has as single entry with multiple images, but used the image button above, not the attach file field below. For the first you need to upload your images to a server of your own choice first, and the latter uploads one file to the filterforge server.

Allright.. I think I'm onto something here, it seems to work as expected, i.e. diagonal beams should be wider than horizontal and vertical (because the distance is greater), and not the other way around. This version is also simpler and slightly faster than the "classic" one.
Tell me what you think, does it solve your problem? Angular Gradient.ffxml |

Ah great, it looks perfect in the spiral filter... thanks for the help...
I doubt if the gain is completely accurate: it sometimes looks a bit octagonal in my test (I can't really tell with all that moire occurring ![]() If I were you I'd post your solution as a snippet. Angular Gradient - test.ffxml |

Right, its still not a "real" solution, but at least the octagonal is closer to a circle than a square/diamond ![]() |
