This may be a basic question, but I was going to submit the extended version of my Alphabet Texture Creator but I am not sure if I should modify the settings of the Color control tiling to mirror or keep the default none, as I want be sure that this does not give any problem, and do not want to than have to upd ate the filter again and bother FF company and also FF users.
I have discovered in this thread shown here Why using External image OR Color control gives different results? that if you want to have in the same filter to have the option to use either Main external external image or Color control input, you can run into problems when the Color control has the Tiling se tting value as NONE, and must be configured to repeat, or mirror so the problem is solved ![]() And after testing this in 10 different filters, it seems that the tiling repeat is not always the best option, as it could not solve always the problem, but it seems from my tests that the tiling mirror se tting of Placement in color control will always give the same result as the main image input. So I thought to modify all the presets so when using the color color it is already configured with "Tiling Mirror" and so avoid any possible problems. BUT the question is if I Should I put inside the presets of Color control with Placement Tiling Mirror instead of None (or repeat)? Could there be any possible problem doing this and not keeping the color control with the default tiling none? Thanks very much for your help |

It's up to you, what looks good is what works for you. Not like we got a rule. Besides, the settings are up to the people who use your filter. So you should construct your filter to behave if situations are to arise that you find troubling. But again that's up to you and how your filter works.

Thanks much for your help, I will change all the Color control presets with the placement tiling mirror because this the more sure and secure way that it will be compatible from default with using Main External image and get the same result.
I will put a not in the thread about this, that you can always modify it again by going to placement tiling and choose another value
I know that this is up to me and my own decision, but I wanted to confirm that there could not be other known problem I do not know if I do this and with solving one thing could be damaging another unknown thing. But I agree with you in that as you say well, I should build the filter so it was right right in most situations, and if there is some kind of trouble with some configurations put some measures to solve it.
Well, is good to know that there is no rule for this. I agree that the settings are always up to the people who use the filter, BUT the problem and why I have this thread is because nearly everyone knows how to modify the settings inside the settings tab, but not everyone knows that there is a menu inside the color control going to the placement part and that the tiling could modify much the result. |
