I would like a filter created. As someone with very minimal programming experience, the filter editor is NOT proving to be easy for me to use.
An example of what I want it to do can be seen here: http://www.erinkoski.com/images/DSC_6...00TEST.jpg (I have also attempted to attach it to this post, but am not sure if it worked) Ignore the figure in the foreground - that was just a throw-away test. What I'm looking for is a filter that will do the background - border/frame, dividers and desaturate the image and re-color each chunk of it a different color. Ideal customization: 1. width of outer border 2. width of dividing lines 3. rounded edges or angled edges (to dividing lines/inside of border) 4. angle of dividing lines 5. number of segments the image is divided into 6. the colors used for the segments 7. contrast slider applicable to entire background image I don't have a large budget for this project, but would love if someone was interested in helping me. Please respond here or to my email nerwign@sonic.net Thank you for your consideration. ~Nerwign ![]() |

Hi
Skybase did a filter that has some of those desired attributes. Mondrian http://www.filterforge.com/filters/11627.html Just mentioned it because it's the closest to your requirements that exists now that I know of. |

I just mentioned it to give hope that it can be done. I know it's not what you want.
Good luck ![]() |

Hello, I think that what you want would not be difficult to make and easier to make than the Mondrian filter by Skybase, that is more complex than your request.
Surely this is possible to make in Filter Forge. Maybe the Mondrian filter could be modified in some way to be made what you want, although it should be the original simple version and not this one more complex |

Yes, based on the filters I have seen created (there are some comic book filters that do the border and divider lines already, as well as hue-change), I am sure it is possible, but I am unable to create it myself. =(

I have just tried to make it and got something but the problem is that you can´t control and define where to put the colors and can not customize the size of the blocks and where will they appear, and how may of them will appear, you can´t put big blocks as you want, just small ones. So I think that this way will not work for you.

I thought that I could start by using the filter called "Fake Comics" (it is a "Creative" filter), however the editor showed me the behind-the-scenes of the filter and it was so complex I couldn't understand it at all

I agree with you that if you open this Inujima´s filter it will look very complex at first BUT if you look closely, most of the filter is to be able to do all these cool abstract writing, the ballons and the comic effect and the images distribution, and I have been looking more into this filter and have been able to isolate only the frames configurations and remove the rest, BUT the problem is that painting inside the small frames with colors is not something I can do. Please, is something like this shown below what you want? Be aware that the color one is done in Photoshop and not in filter forge ![]() |

Hmm sounds interesting......I got some time on the weekend so I will see what I can come up with...Unless you get what you need before then.. ![]() I have a couple of methods in mind already just have to put them down in the filter editor... ![]() Stupid things happen to computers for stupid reasons at stupid times! |

Well here is just a very beginning on this but one of the methods that I was thinking about was this one....A method to control the color and the amount of color per square....Of course it will take more then just one multiblend...

Thank you for your help, CFandM. You have an interesting filter there, and I think the 3.0 version works a bit better, but neither seems to deal with some of the key components I was looking for, such as white border and dividers. I don't know if you want to fiddle with it more; I don't want to exploit your spare time for something you're not interested in.

Nope this filter does not deal with those key components yet...This was just a very very early start on addressing one issue only...When making filters it helps to take one step at a time...Such as this filter that you need...
Thats quite alright you are not exploiting my spare time since I like building filters in my spare time anyway.. ![]() ![]() I have also sent you an email.... ![]() Stupid things happen to computers for stupid reasons at stupid times! |

![]() I asked you above if you did like and is perhaps what you want with this borders and dividers that I got from the Inujima´s filter, or may be you want them to be lighter and more thiner than the one you have showed in the first post I can´t make you the filter for you as I have not much experience and mostly be not able to customize the filter as you may want, but I can show to another FF user to use the Inujima source if you like it, although it would be probably better to ask for Inujima first if he allows it before using it, but will not ask if you do not like it.
I was not against you, is that many times that is uploaded now a filter, is not shown if this is for FF 3.0 or FF 4.0 and then when trying to load the FF 4.0 from the forum in FF 3.0 you get this message that is not very clear You need a newer version of Filter Forge. Go to download page?" because going to download page will not solve the problem. So if it is told already that this is a FF 4.0 filter will be easier to know |

Cool and unusual way of creating the different parts, rectangles and squares and how they mix together.
Thanks for sharing the filter and see the evolution of the filter and how have you solved the problem, and is great how the filter is exactly the same as the first post given by Nerwign, congratulations |

I have also tried that if 4 colors and/or 4 square or rectangles division are not enough, you can easily duplicate all the components (except the frame component) and have two of them and mix both result using a blend mode and then connect it to the frame component, I like the result I got.
You can have more colors and you can have also two different line width if wanted ![]() |

WOW!!! This is Frametastic! ![]() ![]() Thanks very much for making this great filter and also for sharing it here, congratulation on the way you have built this filter. IDEA AND POSSIBLE SUGGESTION Now that you have done this wonderful work to divide ONE source image into many frames that each one has a different color, I have another idea I have seen on internet, is the same thing as you have done, but instead you fill the frames with individual images instead of colors. Here are some examples ![]() ![]() Although maybe is not easy to do as I have seen that is not the same at all to fill a shape (or frame) with simple color than filling it with images, and the best example of this is when Skybase tried to modify his Mondrian filter to have images instead of plain colors as shown in this thread Sharing Noise by Skybase - Sharing Noise 3 . Mondrian filter with and without images See also the next post where is the one with images instead of plain colors And the final filter Mondrian by Skybase here below is another example ![]() |

Are any of these filters capable of simply creating the frames and leaving the inside of the frames transparent? Then the person could go into Photoshop and place their own photos into the frames.

Here I have made an update to Inujima´s filter
Have added: * Transparency checkbox so you can erase all the content of the inside frames * Now you can have also optionally a image inside the frame and not only plain color, this can be good for loading textures inside the frame, or make it golden or silver, or... * Have added some drop shadow although is very simple and global and does not have any lighting direction. This drop shadow can also be used as an outerframe for the transparency inside the frames, see preset 14 example * Now there is 33 presets I had added a outer frame for each of the frames, but I run into some problems when activated together with the transparency, so I have disabled it, and is available only in filter editor but not connected, I will see how I can fix it.
I am sorry but Inujima has made it on FF 4.0 and I do not know how to convert it to FF 3.0 or how to copy the components from one version to another, so is not possible Are you using the FF 3.0 trial or do you own FF 3.0? Because if you own already FF 3.0 you should have also FF 4.0 Beta for free. Dividing Frames more controls.ffxml |

x_start/end and y_start/end correspond to inputs of the Free Rectangle component. FF's Free Shape components can draw many shapes at one time, and these outputs are used to draw rectangles. At each points, Start/End X and Start/End Y indicates coordinates of sides (left, right, up and bottom) of rectangles including its point. For example in this image, the square is been divided to four rectangles, and each points are having values of Start/End X/Y depending on the rectangle including its point. ![]() By input these values to Free Rectangle component, four rectangles can be drawn at one time. Moreover, by increasing value of Start X/Y and decreasing value of End X/Y, these rectangles be scale-down and gaps of between these rectangles be shown. ![]() |
