Do you make a backup of any filter you are creating to be safe?

It may take much time and hard work to make a filter and difficult to reproduce again what you have done, so I recommend to make a backup filter of any filter you are making, because if you delete a filter by accident or error, there is no way to recover it

WHY I RECOMMEND AND SUGGEST TO DO IT ?

So, I usually make a duplicate of the filter I may be working on to be sure and safe IF

1 - You delete some components that was important and can not recover them

2 - You have some cool and beautiful pressets done and want to keep them, because FF will change all of them if the values that you save the filter are different than the ones you opened the filter, and it may difficult to remember what was the original values of the filter if you are making some tests

3 - wwhile experimenting and creating the filter you may break or do something wrong and spoils the filter, and do not know how to go back to what you had before

4 - by accident or error you delete the filter itself, and FF does not send it to the recycle bin

THERE ARE TWO WAYS TO BACKUP A FILTER

1 - when you are in the filter editor, Choose File --> Save Filter As and put copy or backup (of what you want) at the end , AND then is important that save this filter, and go back and open again your original filter and do not continue working on the copied one

2 - When you are not in the filter ediitor you can sel ect a filter and then right mouse click and choose "Locate filter" and the it will open the window where the filter is and you can duplicate this file, so you have a copy of it, or you can copy it and paste it in another folder or another different hard drive

BACKUP ALSO ALL THE FILTERS IN A EXTERNAL PENDRIVE OR HARD DRIVE

To be really sure that you you will not be losing your valuable and precious custom created filters, it would be very good to make a backup of all your filters in an external hard drive or pendrive

The hard drive inside your computer is falible and maybreak in any moment without notice or warning and you may loose everything if you do not have an external copy of all your custom filters.

A pendrive is much more safe and secure than an external hard drive that have moving parts amd could brake if it falls to the ground or fail because or any possible errors.

SINCE FILTER FORGE 8 IT IS EVEN EASIER AND FASTER

If you are using FF fr om version 8 onward there is already built in an automatic backup that is very easy to use and fast

So now is even much more easier than before to make a backup as there is also an option in Tools--> Backup filters and settings that makes an automatic backup and takes little space
