I'm a great William Turner (the artist) fan and particularly love his dramatic skies.

Many of my pictures contain big skies and it would be great if they could be made 'Turneresque' (see this site for guidance: http://www.j-m-w-turner.co.uk/)

Because I realise some of you peeps put a great deal of effort into the creation of filters, I'm happy to pay for the work.

While I'm here I must say a big thank you to the various filter designers as I think you are doing some sterling work and it really is appreciated.

You got a trailing ")" in the link smile;-)

And the skies really look like a "Carl" job smile;-)

you can look at these: http://www.filterforge.com/forum/read...#nav_start that's page 12 from that thread. just read forward from there and see if you like anything. there's also one with lightning but that comes way later in the thread, like in the 50's or 60's. these are my filters and completely unpublished, so you wont find them in the library.

there are also other clouds and sky filters within the library. just do a search.

Original image:

I took a quick stab at this. It didn't work out quite as well as I had hoped, but with a bit of editing it could be more accurate. I think Bomber and some RGB math components would be useful, but I don't have FF2.
Here's the file, you might be able to make something of it with some tweaking.

Walpen the bomber makes all the difference smile;)

It's now got canvas feel and more detail coupled with the roughness, haven't worked on the colour improvement which should help the Turner look, [you can control the messiness of the stroke] if it doesn't turn out Turnerish it's at least turning into a nice paint effect smile;)

Now has a tint control and has been tweaked, just needs a way of the shadows not going to dark with the darker tint colours, if it filter the right pics it will look turnish smile:)

Carl, that filter is looking really good....could make big bucks off of it by turning plain photos into artworks to sell....suggest charging no less than $100 per hour for your time in addition to a charge for revealing filter construction that can be built upon in the future....so suggested at least $3,000.00 .....no joke....any digital artist knows that they can recoup that cost quickly and make alot of profit off of a filter like this....

No problem. I'll only charge $2950 for coming up with the concept and kicking the whole thing off...no joke smile:)

Well, that would be true if you had originated the concept....but it was done a long time ago....just not submitted to the FF library for the reason alluded to above....no joke.... smile;) smile:)

I know Carl put some good man-hours into creating it....and he was fairly compensated for his time in good faith to this post....well worth some $$$ for something like this!!! smile:)

Is it slow? I have learned that on very slow filters it helps to crop the image down to just the head or whatever, tweak it out for that, set a preset, then load in the large image. It is especially helpful for one with a ton of controls.
