How can I mod it to just have it streak/blur lighter colors ? I tried various thresholds and whatnot, but I can't seem to figure out how to just get the brightest parts to blur. smile:| I'm thinking like time-lapse photography, where ya only really see the blurry tracers of car headlights in the dark, or something like that ya know, along those lines, to at least *emphasize* certain brightness levels.

You mean like this? smile;)

I could actually integrate this as a feature... we'll see!

----Yeah ! Then just run the wind blown part through a little noise distortion, and ya get wobbly time lapse light tracers. smile8) Controlling what gets blurred by *Hue* would also be an awesome feature to an already way cool filter. smile:)

I think I'm going to take it further and allow the user to select any channel of the 5 available color models for constrained wind bluring.

Noise distortion is also possible, and - I might add - a very nice idea. smile:)

The bad news is I'd have to add at least 5 more controls to this filter!

that seems like a bit of overkill. any particular reason for doing all of those? i mean, fine that you are, but i'm curious why do all of them?

nice effect, btw smile:)

Well, NOT doing all of them would just save one slider. smile;)

hehehe, ok. but i'm still curious as to what advantage you see in doing all of them. i'm not trying to talk you out of this; just curious as to why.

I didn't have any particular advantage in mind, other than providing the broadest spectrum of options to the user. Gotta make it versatile.

ah, ok. thanks smile:)

umm, actually, one last question on that. by adding all five like that, is that going to slow things down any in render time or are you just switching them and therefore no real loss of time?

The modifications should barely impact rendertimes.

Rebuilt for FF4 using Loop.

Kinda redundant (and slow) with Smudge around, but I'm keeping it anyway. smile:-p

Gotta have another look at this and see what I can do to elevate it above Smudge and keep it relevant. Noise distortion, perhaps?

Redundant? You have much more control over each iteration! Distortion, blending, rotation, scale... This filter is a template for all sorts of effects.

Redundant?

Well, it is redundant, unless I expand the feature set of this filter. In its current library form, it's basically just a slow Smudge.

True. I'd rather do new filters based on the template though. Don't want to dilute the Wind Blur part. smile:)
